Room 313- Wednesday night

There was a system to how Jaina got back from trips home. First thing she did after getting in the door was to drop her bag and find the little clock on her desk that told her what day it was. For two weeks at home, she'd only missed two days here, which wouldn't be a bad thing if she wasn't counting down to graduation. Normally then she'd start unpacking, but today she was bucking tradition and checking her phone again. Still no message from John. She expected to be hearing from him any day now, but talking to Ronon had told her that maybe it'd take a little bit longer than the ETA she'd been given to begin with.

Leaving her bag where it was for now, Jaina instead went to lay down for a minute. She was healing up after her concussion and felt fine, but unpacking, meh.

"Concussion. I've had recovery time, I'm fine," she assured him. "Seriously about the frogs?"

"You're slow," Ben said, still frowning. "They didn't dump you in bacta?"

"I was too busy," Jaina told him with a wave of her hand. "I just have to take it easy for a bit and I can put myself in a healing trance when I sleep. It's nothing to worry about."

Ben's lower lip stuck out. "How come that never works for me?" he asked. "I always end up in the bacta tank."

"Because we just finished a war where a lot of people got hurt, and if someone's willing to go without bacta so they can use it for someone who needs it more, they won't argue," Jaina explained. "I haven't been in a tank since Kalarba. If I can take care of it myself, I will." Granted, she wasn't the best at healing, but she could manage.

Ben still looked worried. "I'm not great at it either," he admitted, "but if you want a boost, I could probably help out."

"Thanks," she said with a little smile. "Really, I'm fine. Stop looking like that."

"I don't like seeing people hurt," Ben said, finding the toes of his boots absolutely fascinating.

[solo_sword]

"If I started doing jumping jacks, would that be better?" she asked gently. "Because I can. I'm just healing up like a good girl because I have the time to."

Ben turned red. "I'm being ridiculous, huh."

[solo_sword]

"I appreciate it," she assured him. "Just worry less and spend more time marveling at the 'taking it easy' thing."

"Well, if your definition of 'taking it easy' includes getting hurt, I'd be happy to go over what the words mean with you again," he teased.

[solo_sword]

"I started taking it easy after I got hurt. It's an important distinction," she said. "I even let Kyp do all the heavy lifting." Because he wouldn't let her haul her prisoner in like a badass.

"Did Kyp get hurt too?" Ben asked, leaning against the doorjamb.

[solo_sword]

"Of course not. Which he was all too quick to remind me of, by the way." Someone was still bitter.

"What happened?" Ben asked.

[solo_sword]

"I told you about the guy with the droid replica facility?" she began. "We tracked him down to his new hideout, and then the real hideout since the first was a decoy, which meant we got to face off against a bunch of his droids. He pulled that on me before. I got thrown into a wall, let Kyp handle more of the droids, and I went after the bad guy and managed to bring him down even with a concussion. He's now being held for trial, so I have to go back when they give word and testify and all that."

Ben nodded. "What kind of droids? Were they like what Lando put out?"

[solo_sword]

"Guard droids. He'd stepped up some since last time, probably figuring I knew how to take those out by now. They weren't going to do any killing, but they were definitely meant to keep us busy so he could get away again," she said. "I don't like those things."

"I don't like them either," Ben said, making a face, "since they thumped you around like that. I'm glad you've shut him down."

[solo_sword]

"Me, too. And now that I managed to do that, we'll see what the Council has me doing next. I don't think I get to choose again," she said, making a face. She liked making her own assignments.

Ben smiled. "At least you got to choose once?"

[solo_sword]

"I walked up to Uncle Luke with a plan already in mind," Jaina admitted. "This is what happens when I have time on my hands." And that was with John around. Imagine what her brain was doing now.

"You plan assaults on criminals?" Ben laughed. "You need to learn to relax."

Like he did, with the insomnia and the tiny army of droids. Yes. Very healthy.

"I've been wanting to go after this guy for months. And I had to start doing something, so I took the initiative." That's what she was calling it, sure.
