The Arms Hotel, room 504- late Wednesday night

Jaina had mostly been asleep when she got the voicemail, which meant she was asleep through the actual message but heard the beeping that said she had a new message, please check it.

And once she heard it, forget calling, she was packing up some basics because she knew once she left she wouldn't be seeing much of her room for as long as he was in town, and headed down to the hotel. After checking which room he was in, she headed upstairs, knocking on the door. And if he didn't answer, she could pick the lock.

[For he who is in the room!]

The knock at the door had John hopping to pull it open before it annoyed any potential neighbors. "Hey," he said, looking a little tired and extra hairy...and maybe worried.

"Gave up on shaving for an hour there," John admitted, going for her other hand to pull her inside.

"Maybe it's a recessive gene," John suggested, shutting the door behind her. "How long's it been?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
John shrugged a little, "Twelve weeks? Plus six months in an hour." Joyful.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Like time dilation fields are all that new and different," John replied. "It's no big deal."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"It wasn't what I would call fun," John admitted, "but it got me here, so let's not be too upset over it?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't fair that he was already frowning and she'd just arrived. "Can we focus on the part where I'm here?" John asked. "I kind of...had a really bad bunch of months there."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
That was what he needed, actual comfort and contact. "You were the first person I wanted to see."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"You're good to see," he admitted, giving her a squeeze. "Did I miss anything major? New relatives? Time as an animal?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
He barely remembered after all that time off world. "I wouldn't jinx you," John promised, burying his face against her neck. "I always liked the kitten thing."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"I knew what you needed," he told her, feeling like she should understand without him saying that he had been all hers even when he'd spent six months living with some old-ass virgin who claimed she'd been saving herself for him. Not that he was going to give this voice.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
He pulled back to look at her better. "It throws me every time how you haven't changed." He felt like he'd changed too much.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Just a pedicure?" John replied, leaning his head to the side when she scratched at him. There were a lot of new scars for her to find, but he wasn't going to be offering up a show and tell quite yet.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't get a massage," John complained with a deep frown. "Did you want me to give you a haircut?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah?" John thought maybe he could deal with that idea.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
As though he would do anything but willingly follow and take a seat. "This something new you've learned while I was away?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
John glanced over his shoulder. "Is it bad I don't remember?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Sorry if I freaked you out there," he said, trying to relax against her touch. He was just a bit tense there.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," he agreed a little too quickly. "And I woke you up, didn't I?" But there she was, rubbing his shoulders.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
He wasn't much of a boy these days. "Being here is better than sleeping," John agreed. "I'm kind of sick of down time."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Well...I don't know that I could any time with you as down time," John realized. "But after six months of meditation, I could use some excitement."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Meditation," he repeated sullenly. "How do you think I grew this wicked beard."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Got stuck on the wrong side of a time dilation field barrier," he shrugged, leaning a little into her hand. "One hour for the team was six months with a bunch of fools trying to ascend to a higher plane of existence."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
John turned to glare over his shoulder. "Don't think they didn't try to make me. But those people? For eternity, no way."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"It's been that kind of...well, I don't even know how long it counts as, but it's been enough time that I wouldn't argue it."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
John honestly would've been cooler with the time issue if not for the bug issue. His life kind of sucked.

"Or maybe we need to do something about time."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Not sure," John shrugged noncommittally. "I'm a big fan of blowing stuff up, not that that'd work."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"We'll figure something out," he said, believing this fully as he leaned back a bit against her.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
All she was getting from that was a nod and his hands coming up to rest on hers for a moment.

Okay, not all. "We are. No need for that worried voice of yours. Promise."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm startin' to get the idea you don't mind," he smiled. It was nearly real.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed," he teased, turning a little to see her better.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
"You had time for presents?" John asked, confused.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
"A comlink?" John said, tilting his head at the device as he figured out why she would gift that to him. "You think it'll work?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
John took the device and turned it over in his hand. "I shouldn't wanna go back and see if it works."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
There was no stopping him from kissing her for that. She could try, but it'd take the Force.
