MCA #6- early Saturday morning

Jaina was just getting out of bed when she heard the sound of the doorknob to her apartment's front door jiggling, which sounded a lot like an inexperienced lockpick trying to break in. In Fandom, that could mean a lot of different things, though, and her danger sense wasn't going off at all. So she walked into the living room, reaching out with the Force to see if she could tell who was on the other side of the door. While the presence wasn't one she recognized right away, it wasn't unfamiliar, either.

It was also very definitely a kid.

For some reason Jaina couldn't explain, she stood on the other side of the door, folding her arms and waiting to see whether or not they made it in.

[For a tiny one!]

Chak had been trying the lock for what felt like hours, though it'd really only been a couple minutes. He had his own multitool but either he was doing something wrong, or it wasn't working. He was going to go with the second thing, and maybe he could angle that into getting a brand new one.

So when he sensed his mother awake on the other side of the door, he sighed, stopped, and called, "A little help here?"

"Thanks," Chak said gratefully, slipping past her into the apartment. Around other people he wouldn't go anywhere unless he was invited to, but since it was just Mom, he had no problem making himself at home. "I tried my best to get in, but the lock's shoddy. Or I need a new multitool." He paused, deciding to really try for it. "I think I really need a new multitool."

He looked around, then took a seat on the sofa with an experimental bounce. "Is this where you used to live? You only ever showed us the outside before."

"Yeah," he said, but he had more important questions that totally trumped hers. "Wait. You can't still live here. You live at home."

"Oh." He was still trying to figure out how that happened, but he got that it had. "Stupid Portalocity, putting wrong portals up in dumb places." That was not what happened, but he'd decided they earned his blame. "So I time traveled?"

"...Astral," he decided, eyes going wide. "Daman's gonna be jealous."

And then he realized, "I'm gonna be grounded forever."

That was weird. But Fandom was weird, so it was okay. "Chak," he said. Then, because he'd been taught to be polite when introducing himself, he added uncertainly, "Nice to meet you?"

[identity profile] gonnabeemperor.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He started to nod, then stopped abruptly. "Wait. If you don't have us yet, should I be telling you stuff?"

[identity profile] gonnabeemperor.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nooo, but you say knowing things just adds pressure," he reported.

"I can live with that," Chak decided after a moment. "Yeah, he's my brother."

[identity profile] gonnabeemperor.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"He's six. I'm eight, so I look out for him," he said, with no small amount of pride.

He shrugged. "I have to take over for Dad someday. I have to start being responsible now. Sometimes." He'd say it sucked, but he always got yelled at when he used that word. Where did she think he learned it?

[identity profile] gonnabeemperor.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. He was talking about being a baron, right.

It wasn't like he hadn't said this to his mom already, so it was okay to say it now, right? "Dad doesn't really like his job. He pretends it's fine, but I can tell. But you guys say it's going to be a long, long, long time before I have to worry, and I should get to be a kid, too."

"Like what?" he asked, completely curious.
