MCA #6- Thursday all day

When Jaina first arrived four/eleven years ago, she hadn't thought she'd be here this long. At times she'd practically been running for the nearest portal that would take her anywhere but here. So the fact that she was even a little bit upset about leaving Fandom now was kind of a shock to her. She never once thought she'd be leaving here feeling even the slightest bit centered, or thinking that maybe dating shouldn't be off-limits forever (she knew she still wouldn't have time for it but that was not the point), or feeling like she could handle the next few years even knowing what might happen.

She wasn't actually leaving until first thing Friday morning, but she didn't want to be upset when she left. She just wanted to get up and go before she had a chance to think about it. So she sent out an email to let people know today was the last day she'd be around and give them her contact info in case she didn't get to see them, and set about to doing all the last-minute tasks she had to get out of the way. Things like making sure her X-wing and Sneaker were both in working order, cleaning, packing up another box to send off for home because she had too much stuff to take along to fit in said X-wing, wondering how the kriff that had even happened, things like that. In related news, moving was annoying.

A lot of things had changed during Jaina's collective time in Fandom, but one thing definitely didn't: keeping distracted so she didn't have to think was always going to be her default coping mechanism.

"Yeah, as long as the phones work, and as long as portals stay open when they're supposed to, I'll be happy. There's a lot I still have to hear about as it happens, especially when it comes to you and Luke." And you know, Han and Mara.

"But you know what's going to happen," Leia said, trying not to think on things like Alderaan at the moment. "Doesn't it take some of the surprise out of it?"

"Some," Jaina conceded. "But where you guys are now, I didn't live through it. Or for a while still, I'll have been too young to remember, or to have known what was happening. I've heard everything through stories, but I don't have a lot of the details. So when things happen, especially when you meet people I know are important because I still know them personally, it's sort of like experiencing it myself secondhand." She frowned. "I don't know if that makes sense."

"I think so," Leia said, mulling that over. "You'll get different details when you hear about it soon after something happened than something that happened ten or more years ago."

And because she had to try: "So what are you waiting to hear about next?"

"I think Luke's got some interesting stuff coming up," Jaina said vaguely. Well, she herself was due to be born and then nearly get kidnapped soon, so she had a vested interest there. Then she smiled. "Or was that you hinting for specifics?"

"You know I had to try," Leia said, not the least bit sheepish about it. "What's to say I wasn't meant to meet you here and find things out?"

"It could be," Jaina admitted. "Force knows it's never stopped me from asking Ben things, or reading into alternate futures." Of course, she still hadn't volunteered a real answer to Leia's original question there.

"And speaking of alternate futures, you really think it's worth giving Han another chance?" Leia asked skeptically.

Of course she would, he was her father. But if she didn't, she wouldn't have a Jaina, but she also wouldn't have an Anakin to lose.

She found the fact that this was still a question very telling. The way Jaina figured, some things really were just meant to be a certain way, and this was one of those things. "Definitely," she said, and decided to be really honest about it. "Even now, you're each other's biggest supporters. You two have what I'd want for myself someday."

You know, if that would ever actually happen for Jaina, blah blah blah, the point stood.
