Somewhere in space- GFFA- Tuesday evening Fandom time

Just as she'd thought, a day after Jaina and Zekk had both gotten to Coruscant, they'd been sent out on their first mission back together. Considering she'd blown up at him for running a day late through no fault of his own when she'd been here waiting to do something, that kind of quick turnaround was not the worst idea. Resuming life as usual had chilled Jaina out a bit, too, at least in that regard. It was good to put her brain to work and get back into the action and know for sure that she was in the right place, doing the right thing, at the right time.

Not that she didn't end up missing people when things got quiet. Like now.

Currently she was aboard a passenger transport headed to Mordagon, on the tail of one of the members of a particularly hard-to-find crime ring that was springing up more and more often. Rather than come in being all obvious in X-wings, they'd stowed them on the civilian ship and decided to play this as low-key as possible. She and Zekk had separate rooms, since while they hadn't been Joiners in nearly a year, their bond to each other was still just strong enough to make sharing a room uncomfortable. It was something they might have to get used to, but not yet. Besides, Jaina hadn't apologized for that blowup on Coruscant yet.

That was also the reason she wasn't going to bother him now they they had some downtime till they arrived at their destination: she was just being stubborn. So when she'd gone through all the information she had, and plotted out a plan as well as she could, she got out her phone and checked the time in Fandom. After a moment of wondering if it was maybe too early to be doing this yet, she dialed a number anyway and waited to see if she got voicemail or not.

"How nicely are we talking here?" Eric asked. "You're pretty far away. I don't think my Corvette can go into space."

"I love that the car was your first thought of how to get here," she told him. "Never heard of Portalocity? You have to have met someone with a ship by now. Besides me."

"Portalocity yes, the spaceship no," Eric replied. "And I like my car."

He loooooooved his car.

"I remember. Luckily you don't have to look into making it spaceworthy since I'm not in jail," she said. "No warrants that I know of, even." None currently, anyway.

"Well, that sounds boring," Eric declared. "What have you been doing?"

[solo_sword]

"Hunting bad guys. Still sound boring?" Let's ignore that she'd been bored till she picked up her phone.

"Depends," Eric said. "How bad are the bad guys?"

[solo_sword]

"Well, I'm sure you wouldn't think very much of them," she said dryly, "but for us mere mortals I'd say they're about moderately bad with potential for worse."

"Mobsters?" Eric guessed.

[solo_sword]

"Not quite mobsters, but it is a crime ring, yeah," Jaina said. "Good guess."

"Thank you," Eric replied. "I find them moderately annoying as well."

"I knew I should have said something like 'warlord' instead," she said teasingly. "It just sounds cooler."

Not that she was worried about impressing him or anything. There just weren't a lot of people she knew she'd always be less badass than.

"I haven't fought a warlord in quite some time," Eric said. "That would have been impressive."

[solo_sword]

"Give it time. I'm sure one'll pop up and I'll be able to tell you all about it for real," she told him.

"I look forward to it," Eric said. "Now tell me about your crime lords."

[solo_sword]

"I can't get into too much detail," she said. "But it's basically a small time ring that's been getting bigger and spreading their influence now that they have some. And it means now they have the connections to get slippery, so tracking them down has been a pain. We got a lead on one of their lackeys, so we're seeing where that takes us."

"Hopefully somewhere productive," Eric replied. "How long have you been tracking them?"

[solo_sword]

"Personally, only about a week. But I was getting intel while I was still in Fandom," Jaina answered. "So I'm pretty much ready to get there and start working rather than having to hang out and wait while we're in transit. Hence the phone call."

"So you're bored right now," Eric said, laughing.

[solo_sword]

Jaina smiled. "Well, not right this second... because you picked up."

"I'm glad to be as entertaining as Angry Birds," he said.

[solo_sword]

"Moreso! Notice how I called instead of playing it," she pointed out. "See, you won."

"Good," Eric said, sounding pleased. "I'd hate to think you were the kind of person to take all of this time to try and beat my high score."

[solo_sword]

"Oh, I'll beat it. It's important to have goals, and I don't want to accomplish them all right away. Besides," she said with a definite note of teasing in her voice, "I wouldn't want you to feel inadequate or anything."

Like he ever had.
