Coruscant- Saturday Fandom time

For all of Jaina's current issues, she'd really been looking forward to having Eric visit. It was good to see him, and how often did you get to show off a whole new galaxy to a guy who'd been around a thousand years? Besides, after getting to see when he was from, it felt like him getting to see her in her natural habitat put them on even footing. And as it turned out, Coruscant was surprisingly friendly to the daylight-challenged: it was very easy to find a hotel with fake windows so the sun wouldn't be a problem even if you could see it around all the tall buildings and everything didn't just shut down at night.

Plus there was no shortage of red flying cars.

There was the fact that Eric didn't know how to operate one yet, though, and that was going to be remedied. Jaina was able to borrow a speeder for the lesson (and that actually meant borrow, not "borrow" or "commandeer" or "it's not really stealing if you put it back where you got it" as she sometimes had to do), and as she brought him to where it was parked, she asked, "So is it about what you thought it'd be?"

[For he who is working without a learner's permit.]

Eric was trying not to gawk, but he was finding it very difficult.

"Sure," he lied. "It's just a car...without wheels."

"Exactly," Jaina nodded. "Same concept, different execution. And you'll never ever hit a pothole in one of these."

"Unless I've plunged thousands of feet to my death," Eric added.

[solo_sword]

"Try to avoid doing that," she advised, stopping at the speeder. "Besides, you can fly. You'd be fine."

"And people won't mind seeing a pilotless speeder just falling?" Eric asked.

[solo_sword]

"I'm sure they'd mind," Jaina said, and hopped into the speeder on the passenger side. And she maybe had to remind herself about the passenger side as someone was maybe used to driving. "Like I said, try to avoid that."

"I will," Eric said, sitting in his own seat and fiddling with the controls to try to get enough room for his legs.

So far he'd turned on lights, windshield wipers and the radio.

Normally she'd automatically just point him where he needed to be looking, but considering what he'd so far managed... "And what is it you're trying to do?" she checked. Note how good she was on not laughing, though!

Eric looked disgruntled. "Find more leg room. This was set for someone with no legs at all."

Or a normal person, maybe.

"I think you forget you're a giant. Try that one," Jaina said helpfully, pointing to the right control.

"I've seen people who are taller here," Eric said. "And people who were green and had tentacles."

[solo_sword]

"Not what you're used to?" Jaina said oh-so-innocently.

[texted3times]

"Not outside of Halloween, no," Eric replied, finally getting the seat set to his satisfaction.

[solo_sword]

"You'll get more used to it," she told him. "By the time you get back to Fandom, you might wonder why everyone doesn't have tentacles."

Okay so the last part was a joke.

He quirked up an eyebrow. "Have you been hiding tentacles from me? I was pretty sure I'd seen all of you there was to see..."

[solo_sword]

"Well, not me," she clarified, laughing. "Everyone else. But now that you've said that, I am 100% tentacle-free."

"That is very reassuring to hear," Eric laughed. "All right, I've been looking. How does this thing turn on?"

[solo_sword]

"These things don't come with keys to lose," she said, and told him exactly which controls would make it start. Not that she was waiting for his reaction for when they started hovering or anything.

Eric followed her directions exactly and let out a slew of surprised Swedish when they started to float.

"We're above the ground! In a car!"

Yes, Eric, that's how it worked.

"It'd be a horrible flying car if we weren't," Jaina said with a laugh. "They handle differently than what you're used to, too."

Said she who'd driven once. When she was seventeen.

Eric steered with a caution that would make a half-blind 80 year old woman on the way home from church scream with frustration as he tried to get an idea of the controls.

"It responds a lot easier than my car," he finally declared before stomping down on the accelerator with a mischievous grin.

"I knew you were going to do that," Jaina said, though she wasn't clutching at anything in terror, which probably said she was used to having to do what he just did.

"Well, what's the point of a flying car if you aren't going to go really fast?" Eric wondered.

This was pretty much his philosophy for any car.

[solo_sword]

"Getting where you need to go?" she said. "Once you have to deal with things like skylanes, you have all those pesky people in front of you."

"I still have to obey traffic laws?" Eric looked almost pouty.
