Somewhere in GFFA- Monday Fandom time

While last week's Portalocity email had maybe made Jaina a little paranoid, she'd talked to enough people since then to be reassured that at least she could talk to people. And then came today's email, with words like "have become almost impossible to contact" and there went all that reassurance. Nice going, Portalocity.

Luckily she was playing bodyguard for a diplomat right now, which wasn't exactly high-maintenance work most of the time, so she had more time to hang out by herself and make calls to people to make sure she could still get in touch with them.

That whole pushing people away thing was obviously going great.

"I was a very talented child," Eric said dryly. "I declared the playground in the park my own kingdom. In Swedish, so I don't think anyone cared, but I did it."

"I can't believe I missed tiny Eric," she said. "You could probably still call the playground your kingdom. It's a little smalltime, but..."

"Now that I know how the merry-go-round works, it seems a shame to give it up," Eric teased.

"Tell me there are pictures of this somewhere," she said hopefully.

"Tiny might have taken some," Eric replied. "Bo turned small too. I think it was a very long weekend for him."

[solo_sword]

"Maybe," she said, making a mental note to befriend Tiny. "But I always thought those weekends were fun, even when I stayed the right age."

"It was certainly different," Eric replied after a moment. "I haven't eaten in centuries."

[solo_sword]

"Did you have anything good?" she wondered. She was betting junk food and only junk food, which, if you're going to have food for the first time in that long, was only right.

"Far too much ice cream," Eric admitted, "and a rabbit I caught myself. And pond water, which I don't recommend."

Now she laughed. "Yeah, if it's ever had a catfight in it, you probably don't want to drink from it," she said. "How are you adjusting back?"

Slowly.

"It's strange," he admitted finally. "It was much less complicated being a child."

[solo_sword]

"You mean back when there was no baggage and your biggest problem was whether or not you got to stay up late?" she said.

"Staying up late has lost some of its appeal over the years," Eric admitted.

[solo_sword]

"Well, yeah, but it's great when you're seven," she said.

"This is true," Eric admitted. "I'm pretty sure I only slept because the sugar high wore off."

[solo_sword]

Jaina paused. "I'm trying to imagine you hyper..."

"It was...different," Eric admitted. "These days I only move when I have to."

And then he moved.

"It's interesting, hearing about what you used to be like," she decided.

"And what was tiny Jaina like?" Eric asked. "I didn't want to ask Jacen."

[solo_sword]

"You might have seen him be normal if you had," she said. "Tiny Jaina had Jedi powers and very little supervision, so I was in trouble a lot. We'd go exploring secret tunnels or try building droids, or when I wasn't trying to give my parents gray hair I'd help with the ship. Kid stuff."

Eric burst out laughing. "I think I would have enjoyed tiny Jaina. I didn't seem to think gravity applied to me."

[solo_sword]

"Yeah, I think we'd have gotten along too well. The first year I turned little I went into the sewers to try and catch a gremlin to send to Jacen for his pet collection," she told him.

"How'd that work out for you?" Eric asked, sounding amused.

[solo_sword]

"I was completely disappointed when I couldn't find it again," she answered.

"It's probably better it turned out that way," Eric said after a moment, "unless you want me to find one and send it to Jacen now."

By "me" he meant "Joan", of course.
