Room 313 and ye olde shuttle parking, Tuesday evening

When Jaina got back to her room, she found a few packages outside her door. She hadn't expected anything, considering she still had zero idea what the holiday was even about, but she appreciated it. And upon going inside and opening them, she realized that this was another one of those things she could never tell her aunt about Luke.

The common room and the former six or seven feet of hair that she'd spent a really large portion of her Christmas Eve chopping into a reasonable length above her shoulders had kept her busy for a while, but she wasn't doing well giving herself any time to think. There were things she was very specifically trying to avoid thinking about, thanks. Alone time wasn't conducive to avoidance.

She settled in to at least flip through the book she'd gotten, but she could read the words without even squinting for the most part. There was still some blur around the edges of the page, but that wasn't the point. This was much finer detail than the test she'd failed in trying to get back into the Rogues, so theoretically...

Jaina had been shaken into awareness of her own mortality last trip, and she wasn't exactly sure she wouldn't freak out if she got into an X-wing and tried to fight. She knew now that she was fallible, and she had weaknesses, but it didn't make sense for her to waste time waiting to get over her issues. If she went back now to get this over with, she wouldn't miss a single class and she'd avoid another one of those goodbyes she hated. A couple days, she could be back and gone before anyone even noticed.

Yeah, it didn't take much deliberation for her to go with something she got it in her head to do. It took her under a minute to throw some things into a bag, scribble a note for Inara saying she'd be back, and head out of the dorms. After all, if Luke and Anakin were elsewhere, there was no sense in calling for a shuttle to come get her when she could just borrow one. She might even beat them back.

If not, well, she'd worry about that later. Coming up with an explanation would be a good distraction for the trip home anyway.
