Room 313, Wednesday night

Long after fencing club, Jaina was in her room, dressed for bed but not ready to attempt sleep. She was still not really wanting to think about certain things, and feeling pretty antisocial to boot, which she wanted to stop already. Her usual method of coping was not to cope, and that didn't work so well when you'd had to tell the story several times already.

Figuring she wouldn't sleep well if she tried yet anyway, she grabbed her comlink from her desk, debating whether calling home would help or not.

John sighed, she really was stubborn. "Fine, search your heart out, but I get to be there and you have to clean up after yourself."

She kind of couldn't believe she managed that. She hadn't even been really serious, but if the opportunity was there... "Deal," she agreed.

"And no fair getting mad about anything else you find," John added.

Jaina paused. "What else might I find?"

"Everything in my room," John replied.

"You're funny," she told him lightly.

"I try," he smiled. "But seriously, I don't have anything really scary except the occasional embarrassing DVD." Because he'd be getting rid of anything dirty ASAP.

Sadly, or maybe luckily, Jaina didn't jump to that conclusion. "Just don't tell me you have that one that was supposed to be the flying movie."

John shook his head, "You really think that little of me."

"Just checking," she said, rubbing his knee. "I wouldn't want to be scarred if I did run across it."

John smirked, "What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died?" He didn't know how he remembered the first line of that scary movie, possibly because he was in shock, but there it was.

Jaina stared at him, and promptly started giggling. "You actually remember that."

John nodded, snickering. "I remember a lot of things." Especially stupid movie quotes.

"What else do you remember?" she asked, curious.

"Well, there's quotes, numbers, specs, sports stats...I dunno, a lot."

"I thought you were going to get specific after you started breaking out the bad date movie quotes," she said.

"You want more bad movie quotes?" Because he could provide, really.

There was a long pause. "Now that you put it that way, I think I can do without specifics."

"I know I've used some on you before." Because he was sneaky like that.

And she would have no idea what they were. This was what happened when you were from another planet. "When?"

"Sometime in the last seven months," he teased.

"I'm glad you're so helpful," she said wryly.
