Jedi Temple- Coruscant- Monday

Though Jaina wouldn't admit it aloud (probably), she kind of liked being called into Council meetings. Before she'd have been brought in to be given an assignment, usually, or to get yelled at, but it seemed like since she'd come back here they'd taken to actually utilizing the Sword of the Jedi more. She had no idea whether it had anything to do with the fact that her parents got invited to these a lot, too, but she wasn't sure that mattered. She just liked having more of a hand in doing things.

She didn't like having the table in her quarters covered with datapads and flimsis as she tried to do research, though, and she was regretting now that she hadn't just taken over a section of the library. At least then she'd have some sort of distraction for when her eyes just refused to look at anything anymore.

Luke was heading out the door for a trip to investigate this mysterious Jedi Master his father had loathed (not that he was surprised, really. Anakin never struck him as being a guy who'd had a lot of friends even before he killed most of them...) and figured he should at least let someone from that timeline know he was heading off the grid for a bit.

Ben wasn't answering so he tried Jaina.

Jaina meanwhile was so relieved for a distraction that she picked up immediately. "Solo."

"Skywalker here," Luke said, affecting his most serious, grown-up sounding voice. "We're out of blue milk and need you to bring some home."

"I think that might be a slightly longer trip than I'm willing to make right now," she said teasingly.

"The milk'll probably spoil by the time you get here, anyway," Luke admitted. "How are you doing?"

"Okay. Busy, but that's not a bad thing," she said. "How are you?"

"Working hard on being the favorite uncle," Luke said with a laugh. "So far you guys only stare at the ceiling and gurgle. It's very disappointing."

"Enjoy it while it lasts. We're gonna be responsible for everyone's gray hairs," Jaina promised.

"Oh, I don't know about that," Luke said. "Your parents and I have made our fair share of bone-headed decisions entirely independent of you two."

"Let a girl take some credit for terrorizing her elders, will you?" Jaina laughed.

"Some," Luke said. "A very little."

"I'll take it," Jaina said. "How are things besides my adorableness?"

"The Empire's still retaking systems," Luke said, sounding defeated. "The council's actually started looking for the Katana fleet, so things are getting really desperate if they're going on that kind of wild ronto hunt."

"Don't sound so down," Jaina told him. "I know it's frustrating now, but you know from me at least that it works out."

"That's very comforting," Luke replied with a smile. "Because right now we're getting our butts kicked."

"Yeah, that... happens a lot," Jaina admitted. "But we're still here."

"You'd think we'd get better about skipping the middle part," Luke said.

"I'm sure it serves some kind of purpose, like making sure we don't get too full of ourselves," Jaina said, not sounding like she bought that,

"The Force keeping us humble?" Luke frowned as he thought about that. "I think it wouldn't be that vindictive."

"Not saying that's the reason. But it is my justification to make myself feel better about it," she said.

"I might steal it if you don't mind," Luke said.

"Go for it," Jaina said. "I'll feel helpful."

It had been a while since Tahiri had checked in. The question was valid.

Just because Tahiri's snort of laughter didn't transmit over a text message didn't mean you couldn't practically hear it at the beginning of her reply.

They are! Nothing's broken, even. Haven't even been in Medical in a month.

Because she'd escaped early after her last concussion and she was avoiding Cilghal.

A month? Are you sure you're feeling like yourself? Should I worry?

Nope. I've just been busy on Coruscant. Not a lot of opportunities to break myself. I'm sure I'll get back to that soon! :)

Tahiri smacked her comm into her forehead and sighed before answering that one.

Your enthusiasm is comforting, really it is. What's kept you planetside this long?

Wasn't medically cleared yet, and I guess lately I work with the Council more now? So I've been busy with that.

Oh, so you do have a point of reference for the last time you were in Medical.

You'd probably be able to imagine the dry tone Tahiri would have said that in, Jaina.

Wait. The Council, huh?

Apparently you kill one Sith and suddenly you become an asset.

Killing that one Sith was never going to not bother Jaina, but at least she could comment on it now.

They call Mom and Dad in a lot, too. No idea how long that's been going on.

She wasn't sure how well it would work, but Tahiri reached out and tried to send a pulse of sympathy through the Force. Jacen here had been gone on his journey or his quest or whatever it was for a while now, and it was hard not to feel apprehensive about it the longer it went on . . . which meant that the isolation of being on Zonama Sekot, away from most of the other Jedi, was actually an advantage for once.

About time they learned to take you seriously, It's really weird to think about, though. Just from my end, I mean.

Mine too. Every time they ask me in I want to ask what I did this time.

She supposed she'd get used to it at some point. Just no time soon, due to all the years of conditioning.

Just think of it this way: they're probably still weirded out by not having something to yell at you about every time they call you in.
