Imperial Embassy- Coruscant- Sunday afternoon

With the Jedi observers gone, Jaina had gained back a little more freedom. Unfortunately, the loss of the observers meant that the press had declared open season on the Jedi, and being who she was and dating the Imperial Head of State meant that Jaina was garnering a lot of attention from them.

It was really, really annoying.

Since she didn't need anyone to escort her around anymore, when Jag called today saying he had something to show her, she was able to drive herself over to the embassy, bother his poor assistant by walking into Jag's office unannounced, and see what it was he had for her today.

"Okay," she said, staring at the holo in front of her, "this is weird."

"Isn't it?" Jag said. "But this one seems to be a close enough resemblance."

So, Jag used a double in his position. At first Jaina had thought it was kind of dumb, but having someone trailing her all the time followed by walking through a mass of journalistic vultures every time she left the Temple meant that she'd begun to see the benefit to having someone around to play you sometimes, and it could especially come in handy for Darkmeld missions. And now, Jag's people had apparently found a woman who could serve as Jaina's double. Her name was Lina Zev, and Jaina was looking at her picture and trying to see her resemblance to her own self.

"This is weird," she said again.

"You get used to it," Jag assured her.

"I'm not sure she'd pass for me if someone really looked closely," Jaina said critically. "The mouth's kind of wrong. This is so weird."

"No one's going to be looking too closely. She just needs to look enough like you to pass, especially if she's seen with my double." Jag's double, a man named Karn Valanti, was kind of freakishly close to having him down pat. He not only strongly resembled him, but could even manage the posture and the movements of someone who'd been training for the military from a very young age, and that was not an easy thing. "Besides, she's practiced your movements and expressions and I can assure you they're perfect. Wait till you see her demonstrate your trademark annoyed scowl."

Jaina frowned at him.

"That's the one. She's nailed it."

She sighed. "Okay. Let's go with it. Having someone who kind of looks like me when things get tricky is better than nothing," Jaina reasoned. "I wish I'd had her to answer the door for me all those times Dab woke me up in the middle of the night. I could have gotten so much more sleep."

"You barely sleep, I'm not sure it'd have made any real difference," he said, putting the holo away.

"So not the point..."

"I'll have my people contact her," Jag said, ignoring that in order to wrap his arms around her. "And then when we need her, we're ready."

Jaina was going to say something, but stopped when his comlink buzzed, and he sighed, dropping his head to rest his forehead against hers. "Actually, I think I've got a job for her," she decided.
