Jaina had an office now, which was probably a good thing when she was still cranky about yesterday and wasn't much fun to be around. Besides, being stuck out here in a mostly strange place where she cranky didn't know enough about how everything worked meant that she had a lot to research, especially if she was going to be in charge of it. It was interesting, too, even beyond seeing how they told history as opposed how she had always learned it.

She shouldn't have had the news on in the background, though, because as soon as she heard her name mentioned she got irritated all over again. She didn't like being cooped up till the bodyguard thing was settled, she still hated the bodyguard thing anyway, she wasn't happy that There's had to be a conversation about whether or not it was safer to announce the pregnancy sooner rather than later because she didn't want to have to make a public announcement.

So when everything these days felt out of control for her, Jaina decided to do the one thing she did have control over, by picking up her phone and sending a text.

1. I'm gonna be a mom
2. I'm an empress now
3. How are you?

Eh, they'd only really been waiting to tell their families first anyway.

She expected a lot of this response, really.

Her comm was now ringing.

"WHAT?!" Ben asked.

[solo_sword]

"Which part?" Jaina checked, putting the data pad she'd been looking at aside.

"Let's start with the baby part," Ben said, grinning.

[solo_sword]

"Then hopefully that was a nice 'what,'" Jaina teased.

[momslilassassin]

"It was a surprised what tempered by the empress thing," Ben said.

[solo_sword]

"If it helps, that's about the standard response," she informed him. "Followed by a fifty percent chance of yelling."

"Uncle Han?" Ben guessed. "With hand gestures?"

[solo_sword]

"Let's just say it was one of my least favorite conversations ever," Jaina sighed. "He'll get over it."

Hopefully, anyway.

"Once he holds the kid, I promise," Ben said. "Just don't name it after him."

[solo_sword]

"I think we're just going to stay away from naming after any kids after anybody," she said. She had grown up with Anakin as a brother, after all.

"Probably a good way to go," Ben said. "There's a lot of family baggage with some of these names."

The Tahiri who wasn't there and privy to all these developments nearly Force-catapulted her comlink across a clearing in surprise when she saw that message.

Well, I don't need to know how you became a mom, at least. Even if I didn't already know how that works, it would be weird having you explain it. Congratulations though!

The next message took a little longer to send because she was still pretty much stuck on the "what" for the rest of it. Or the second part, anyway.

I'm guessing the empress part has to do with Jag somehow, but I wasn't exactly expecting that.

And then, Long story short, Sith. We either potentially had to let a Sith install a new Imperial leader, or we cut off all avenues to that. We took the non Palpatine route.

Tahiri's sigh was practically audible over the text.

Of course it's Sith. I don't know why I had to ask, really. Are congratulations still in order for that part?

Nooooo. Neither of us is happy about the Empire part. Just stuck with it.

This was followed by another text of many whiny emoji faces, because Jaina didn't use emojis hardly at all, but when she did she was emphatic about it.

She was, however, making what could only be described as a O.O face at her comlink.

Yeah, I have to admit that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun. You don't need to go into detail, but I bet the Jedi weren't thrilled.

Nope! Had to resign from the Council but still ask for their help with this mess/to keep up good relations.

And after a second of wondering if she should mention it, she added And my you decided to stick with us, so.
