Bastion- Saturday night

As stressful as two kids at once was, Jaina was finding she sort of liked that she and Jag could really share in the insanity. They tried to split things up as evenly as possible, which didn't always work out so well since she had more flexibility in his schedule than he did. But they were both always home at night, and when it was time to put the twins down for bed, they'd go into the nursery together, take whichever son they didn't have yesterday, and then get them ready. It was Jaina's favorite part of the day now.

"I got an invitation to a Council meeting," Jaina said while they worked.

"Oh? Something big?"

"Well, according to Kyp they're offering Mom the Master title, thought I might want to be there," she said. And considering it would mean Leia took the place on the Council that Jaina had vacated, it felt right to be there.

"Good for her. Will she actually take it, though?" Jag asked.

"Fifty-fifty shot, but I hope she does," Jaina admitted. "We'll have to figure out what to do with these guys." There had only been one trip so far with the twins, but they'd both gone, and it'd been mostly to see family, so finding someone to watch them hadn't been hard. They could get a nanny. They probably should. But given her own issues growing up and feeling like her parents weren't actually raising her, Jaina was trying to put that off as long as possible.

"Depending on when it is, I might be able to work in a meeting with Wynn Dorvan, and we can trade off. He and I really should have a face-to-face."

"Best husband."

He shrugged one shoulder. "You're not going to leave without them and I'm not going to be here without them. Until we get to that point where we can do that, we compromise."

"Best dad," Jaina amended.

Once the boys were down, they retreated to the living area, and as Jaina curled up next to Jag, she said, "There's something I should bring up."

She could sense his sudden caution at that, because if Jaina was being cautious, there was a good chance it was something bad. "Oh?"

"I think it might be time to talk to them about starting that Jedi school out here," she said, and quickly added, "Shut up."

"I thought you categorically did not want to do that," Jag said, sounding surprised.

"Pretty sure I said 'shut up.'"

He flashed her a quick smile and asked, "What changed?"

Jaina shrugged. "Tahiri's been wanting to do it, too-"

"I didn't know that."

"Of course not, you'd have ganged up on me if you did," Jaina said. "It's a good time. We're getting settled here, the galaxy hasn't fallen apart with us here and people have had time to see that… Besides, if we do this now, work out all the kinks and take the inevitable and prejudiced heat now, then maybe by the time Dax and Daniel are old enough for formal training, they won't have to deal with it." Like she'd told Anakin: she'd take the abuse so they wouldn't have to.

"I can't argue with that reasoning," he said.

"I don't know if they'll say yes, and they probably won't, but if they do, I don't know if you want to be prepared for it in your meeting with Dorvan."

"Hmm," Jag said, frowning. "I think this should probably be all you."

"You know I'm not any good at the diplomatic part of things."

"You really aren't as bad at it as you think you are," Jag told her. "You're just… more direct than most politicians. A lot of them actually respect that. But realistically, you're a Jedi empress, trying to set up a school to bring in a long-maligned group to protect the region and to help bring unity. It would actually mean something if you were the one to take on the whole thing."

"You're right," Jaina agreed, and cringed. "Uh, that means I'll have to set up a meeting with him, too. Potentially."

"At least I will be there to watch the twins," Jag said, just a little smugly.
