solo_sword: (something should happen here)

Bastion- Friday night

It was Jaina who'd come up with the idea of an event for some of the Imperial bigwigs that they didn't have much in the way of dealing with to get together and do some networking. Mainly, she had babies and she a school to run and they were all tiring and she didn't want to keep traveling just to meet a bunch of people. She hated these kinds of events, but she really should seem more involved- she was, but served in a more behind the scenes role- and she was still learning about who was who.

Besides, she had an ulterior motive for this one and could suffer through this for it.

About half an hour into schmoozing and meeting people and being lectured about the Jedi, Jag sidled over to her and said quietly- with a hint of accusation, "My parents are here."

"I know, I invited them," Jaina said casually. The accusation was warranted.

Jag frowned. He'd been banished from Chiss society a decade ago, and therefore from his family, and it'd been Jaina's fault. It'd caused some issues in the past. "They're not allowed to speak to me. That's a condition of-"

"They're not allowed to speak to their son, which I still think is stupid but that's not for me to decide. However, I can do whatever I want and your father's an Imperial baron and you're the Emperor and you're going to have to work together somehow, because I'm going to arrange it," she told him.

He was quiet for a moment, and knowing him was probably already working out the best way to approach them while technically sticking to the rule in public. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Oh, and I invited them over later so they can actually meet their grandsons instead of me just sending them holos."

"That's... probably toeing a line."

"Is it? Well, then you didn't hear it from me, and you should pretend to be surprised when it happens," Jaina shrugged. "Neither of us has a lot of family left. You've got this out, and you've got a sneaky wife who gets in trouble for everything anyway. Go with it."

He reached for her hand and squeezed it, and then headed over towards his parents.

And, Jaina, realized a second later, left her to mingle with the rest of the Imperials she didn't know. "Dammit," she muttered, "didn't think this through."
