Muunilinst- Thursday FT
Privately, Jag had canceled or rescheduled any engagements he had for the day, but the changes had not been announced. So the speeder bomb outside the consulate when he was supposed to be there both was and wasn't a surprise.
The one in proximity to the safehouse was.
For the second time in two days they were fleeing another location, and Jag asked that he, Jaina and the kids be left alone in the back of the speeder as they were driven to their next location.
"So PR won't help, and I guess this answers the question of whether it's an inside job," Jaina noted.
"At the very least they have access," Jag said. "And they were able to put a contingency plan together quickly, assuming this is what that is. They're less amateur than we thought."
"Are they going to know where we go next?" Dax asked.
Seven-year-olds shouldn't really be part of conversations like this, probably, but they weren't normal seven-year-olds. Jaina's view on this sort of thing was horrifically skewed, and if they were going to have to deal with this later in life, Jag preferred to be honest. "They very well might."
"What do we do?"
If it weren't for the boys, it would be a different story. Jag and Jaina had been through this before, but they weren't sure that the kids weren't targets, and that changed everything.
Jag and Jaina looked at each other. "I have an idea," she said.
"We could," Jag agreed. It wasn't exactly a shocking idea, more the obvious answer. "Until we know more."
"We could what?" Daniel asked.
"I already worked out securing the comms years ago," Jaina added. "We don't need to set anything up there."
"Set what up?" Daniel asked.
"Yes?" Jaina checked.
"Yes," Jag confirmed.
"Yes what??"
"Stuff we're not going to say out loud till we're in the clear," Jaina told him. Soon..
