Room 527, Friday after the dance

There was something a little sad about this being their last prom with both of them as students, but Jaina told herself it wasn't like it was going to be their last dance ever or anything, and just like that, she felt better about it. And going back to John's room after wasn't exactly shocking, though she was definitely curious about the why.

"So what did you want to give me?" she wondered.

[For the boooooy and look I get to use my Leiay icon again! *happies*]

"Something," he hedged, pulling off his tie because he didn't like it. "And you're not allowed to complain about size or cost."

"Hmm," he considered this, getting more comfortable with a few less buttons and no shoes. "You can say it, but yes, I really should have and I should have long ago."

"Well, it's something I probably should've done before Prom, but I was worried we might not make it there if we were in the room too long," he admitted.

"Yes, and as much as I like our track record, I didn't want us to miss our last school dance," he said, moving over to take her hands. "Sit with me?"

He pulled her toward the bed, his hand sneaking under a pillow for something when he sat. "Have I mentioned how much I like you in that dress?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"It shouldn't go as implied," he decided. "Even if I think you'd look amazing in anything, doing anything, but that's not the point here."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"That I love you," he started, his focus on her hands much like a few days earlier. "And we've been through a lot together."

A small velvet box sat in the palm of his hand. "And this is sort of a custom on Earth. Admittedly, I don't know much about how these things work for you, but I'm willing to learn given the chance."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Um what?" John asked, mildly concerned.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
John smiled, knowing what she was thinking and wondering for a moment if he shouldn't swap out boxes.

"Well, I'm not all that eloquent so I'll just say that you deserve all the shiny things I can offer." He popped the box open.

John grinned, glad she seemed to approve of his taste. "Hold on, there's more," he promised, hand sliding back under the pillow for a longer velvet box.

"I did this a few weeks back," he said. "In honor of your promotion." And compliments of Chuck Bass and Sam Winchester making out in detention.

"You're welcome. You know," he smirked just slightly. "You looked a little scared before I opened it."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
John shook his head. "I was sitting next to you. Also, that wasn't a ring."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"It does on my planet," he shrugged. "How do people propose in your galaxy?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Is there jewelry involved?" John wondered, not like he was making plans, just curious.

"You might, if you were waiting for the right moment," John pointed out.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"If it had been, I would have asked," he pointed out.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wait, that's not what I meant," he said, trying to backtrack. "I'm not sitting around waiting for the right moment."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are things that make it right," he shrugged. "I don't have those things yet."

"Like a job or a place to live that's not a dorm room," he suggested. "And..." No, he wouldn't say it. "Yeah, that's it."

The 'and' was the big part. "But none of that is anything to even be thinking about now," he reminded her.

"I'm about to start four more years of school and you're a lieutenant colonel in a galaxy far, far away. Obviously we should be getting undressed." His voice was teasing to distract from his words.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," he sighed. "I'm just being testing the waters of realism."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2009-04-11 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would you prefer something else?" John wondered.

"You don't have to tell me twice," he grinned.
