Room 313, after classes

Classes today had meant that Jaina had been able to stop whining about Tuesdays taking up work time, because she'd been able to get more done there. This meant when she got back up to her room after classes to check her messages again, she had one status report from Lowie and otherwise, she was caught up.

It was a weird feeling, considering how behind she'd been only a couple days ago, and she almost didn't know what to do with herself now. So with a little "Hm" sound, she started going through files and seeing if she could work ahead on stuff.


[I'd say this is establishy, but let's say the door and post are open for SP till 5:30 PST, because I will want many many distractions when I get home and this is easier than badgering. Snap to it.]

If Jaina looked a little confused, it was because in two years, she couldn't remember anyone doing introducing themselves like that. It was new. "Uh, hi. I'm Jaina and I live here," she said, waving her in.

"Nice to meet you," Claire said, walking into the room. "I baked cookies yesterday," she added, offering Jaina the plastic bag with a few chocolate chip and a few peanut butter cookies.

"Thanks," she said, holding out her hand for it. "Do you bake cookies for all your neighbors?"

Claire handed her the bag and shrugged. "I was bored yesterday so I baked in the common room. I had some leftovers and saw your door open. Have you been in Fandom a long time?"

"Two years now." Two very long years. "You're one of the new kids, I'm guessing."

"Yup, just over a month," Claire said. "I guess you like it here if you've stayed this long."

"I'm really pretty done with it, actually," she admitted. "Long story."

"Oh, sorry," she said with a sheepish smile. "Did you graduate this year?"

Jaina shook her head. "Another year to go. I've just had my day with the weirdness and would rather be doing other things now."

Claire... could understand that, actually. "Do you know what you're going to do after graduation?" she asked.

"Go back home, work full time with the military as needed, see where that goes," Jaina replied. "Like I said, there are other things I could be doing. Sorry, I don't mean to put down the place a month in."

"Oh, wow, you already have plans to work for the military at home?"

Claire was surprised and impressed. "Where are you from?"

"I'm already an officer, actually," Jaina shrugged. "I'm from Coruscant originally. Have you met Professor Skywalker yet?"

She knew she should probably call him Master Skywalker, but that was really not likely ever happening with her. Too weird.

"He drove the shuttle when I arrived here," Claire said. "And I've never heard of Coruscant, which probably doesn't surprise you."

When you'd already badmouthed the town to the newbie, you didn't add in things like 'That's okay, it's technically not there anymore anyway.' It was bad form. "Not at all. It's in the same galaxy he's from," she said, and wow the thought of Anakin driving the shuttle full of new kids was suddenly a little terrifying.

"Where are you from?"

"I was born and raised in Texas," Claire said. "But my family is in California now. So, this galaxy."

At least the whole notion of other galaxies wasn't as disconcerting as it was when she first got here.

"What part of California?" Considering she was about to start spending time there, she was trying to get a good picture of the place and where things were. This was more difficult when the state was more than half the coast.

"Southern California," Claire said. "But not any of the big cities or anything. Have you ever been there?"

Jaina shook her head unless trips to Mexico were handwavily gone through there somehow. "My boyfriend's going to Stanford, though, so I'll be visiting. It's not exactly Southern, but."

"I didn't really spend much time there," Claire admitted. "So I can't tell you much. and my mun has never been..."
