Room 313, after classes

Classes today had meant that Jaina had been able to stop whining about Tuesdays taking up work time, because she'd been able to get more done there. This meant when she got back up to her room after classes to check her messages again, she had one status report from Lowie and otherwise, she was caught up.

It was a weird feeling, considering how behind she'd been only a couple days ago, and she almost didn't know what to do with herself now. So with a little "Hm" sound, she started going through files and seeing if she could work ahead on stuff.


[I'd say this is establishy, but let's say the door and post are open for SP till 5:30 PST, because I will want many many distractions when I get home and this is easier than badgering. Snap to it.]

Yeah, Tahiri had actually decided to pick a slightly more appropriate conversation setting for once. It might be a fluke. Who knows?

"Hi," she said, leaning into the doorway but not quite coming in. "Um, it's not a bad time, is it?"

You know. Like last time.

It'd be easy to claim work, but she wasn't going to do that today. "Not at all. Come on in."

She looked a little dubious, but took a few steps into the room and sat down on the floor with her knees tucked up under her chin, wrapping her arms around her legs.

"How are you doing? After all of --" Tahiri waved a hand vaguely. "Everything."

"Caught up," she said, putting the datapad down on the bed, and all things considering, it was a little embarrassing to have to admit that. "Sorry if there was trauma." Get that out of the way.

Tahiri almost smiled for a second. "No, I'm the one who's sorry. For interrupting and everything. That was dumb." She shrugged. "It wasn't your fault, either of you."

She should probably have apologized to John, too, now that she thought about it. She'd have to do that at some point.

She did like the vindication there. "How are you doing?" she asked, praying for no details.

She didn't have to worry about that. Tahiri just shrugged again. "Glad it's over, mostly."

[solo_sword]

"I bet. The feedback and all." She was repressing the other stuff Tahiri'd said like a good little Skywalker.

Tahiri stared down at her feet. "Yeah. That." Which wasn't very convincing.

[solo_sword]

"It's harder to repress when yo stare at your feet," Jaina told her.

Tahiri grimaced. "Am I being that obvious?"

[solo_sword]

"That was kind of obvious, yes," she nodded.

[weetuskenraider]

"It's no big deal," Tahiri lied. "I'll get over it in a few days."

Because she was so good at getting over things, really.

"I just wanted to say I was sorry for yelling at you. It wasn't my business."

[solo_sword]

The 'few days' thing was a little worrying."Don't worry about it," she said. "That kind of week."

"Yeah. I can live without a repeat of that," Tahiri replied, and when it occurred to her she added, "And just so you know, that stuff you had to report on last Wednesday wasn't like it sounded at all."

[solo_sword]

"I was really hoping," Jaina said, obviously relieved.

[weetuskenraider]

"You'd be right. I'm not . . . that." Tahiri's face had gone just a tiny bit red by now. "So you're not still mad, right?"

The answer was kind of important to her, even if she didn't say so.

[solo_sword]

"About the interruption? No," Jaina said. "About anything else, there are some details I never need to know, but I'm not mad about that either." Just to get that out there, since repression hadn't worked out so well.

[weetuskenraider]

It was Tahiri's turn to look relieved. "Don't worry. There aren't those kind of details anyway." Where you'd think a statement like that would be a grumpy one, it was actually carrying on the whole relieved motif.

[solo_sword]

All right, maybe there was some additional relief here. She didn't say it though, for once. "And if you need any help with the shielding for that... well I don't know how to teach it so sorry we're next door."

[weetuskenraider]

"I do okay most of the time," Tahiri assured her, cracking a tiny smile now. "It's different when it's the entire island, practically. But thanks."
