Room 313, Monday evening

While this weekend had had its good points, it had also had its bad, and by Monday Jaina had figured that she'd put off resolving one of those issues long enough. Namely, setting things straight with her mother.

It took a few calls throughout the day to be able to get in touch with her, and finally Leia returned the call, warily asking, "Is everything all right? You never leave that many messages."

To be fair, not leaving a lot of messages wasn't because Jaina was being a bad daughter, but because there really wasn't a point. If her parents weren't able to be contacted, leaving several messages wouldn't do much good anyway. So Leia had to be thinking something horrible had happened. "Oh, no, everything's fine," Jaina assured her. "I was just really wanting to get something settled before things got out of hand. I just wanted to make sure you knew- and I'm sure you've heard- but that whole wedding thing is just... not happening."

There was a pause, and even in little blue holographic form, Leia looked something between alarmed and hopeful, with a lot of other things thrown in the mix there. "There was supposed to be a wedding?"

"No. Not at all. Which is why I wanted to clear the air."

"Why would I think you're getting married?" she asked. "I can't say I'd be surprised-"

"Not me," Jaina said quickly. "Jacen."

More silence. "Jacen was supposed to be getting married?" By that tone, maybe she'd had to tell Jacen that yes, he'd accidentally been dating Danni, too.

"No! No, he wasn't supposed to be.... Why do you sound like this is news?" Jaina asked slowly.

"It might have something to do with it being the first I've heard of any of this?"

Uh oh. "You didn't talk to J- Sue?"

"Who's Sue?"

Oh, Jaina wished her mom couldn't see her flail like this. "My... friend Sue. She said she talked to you and told you..."

"No, I never talked to her. I didn't even know you had a friend Sue," said Leia, with that pointed tone that meant that maybe John's claims that Leia had been upset not to hear more from her daughter were a little true. "Why would Sue know that Jacen was supposed to be getting married? To who?"

"Okay, um," said Jaina eloquently. "I think there was a huge misunderstanding, maybe the wires got mixed up again, forget I said anything."

"No, I think we're going to start from the beginning," Leia said.

Roughly half an hour later, Jaina had placed a call to Jacen begging forgiveness, and a call to John, and was really wondering who she had to yell at.

Zayne had spent some time meditating earlier, but he always seemed to have trouble focusing during the last week of the semester. With his concentration disrupted, he figured he'd take a walk down the hall.

Zayne knocked on the door frame and peeked his head into the room. "Hey, Jaina?"

Still on the frustrated side, Jaina was actually kind of happy to see someone. "Oh, great, a distraction." She needed one of those. "Hi."

"'Distraction' is my middle name," Zayne joked. "In some cases it's even more dangerous than having 'Danger' as a middle name."

"It's a good one in this case," she promised. "What's up?"

"Not much. I was a little too unfocused to meditate, so I thought I'd take a break and check in with people," Zayne said. "And it sounds like my break was well timed."

"You have no idea," she said, waving him in in case he wanted to find a seat. "As much as I want to avoid calls from my family for the next... forever now, I don't think i can."

Zayne walked in and sat down in the desk chair. "I take it they're not prepared to have a relationship with your voicemail?"

"I owe a lot of people explanations for something I wasn't actually part of," she said, and shrugged. "I shouldn't complain. I should be happy to have normal teenage problems."

Not that she was a teenager anymore, and also this all sprung from her boyfriend nd uncle turning into girls.

"Do you mind if I ask what that something was?" Zayne checked.

Jaina paused. "It sounds insane," she warned.

"I spent Friday as a girl. I'm still used to insane," Zayne said.

Jaina sighed. "So did John. Who, when my mother called, told her something about my brother and a wedding, because he needs hobbies," she explained. "And so when I called her to explain that that wasn't true... I found out it wasn't my mother he actually talked to, but I gave her plenty of questions to ask before I figured that out."

Zayne wasn't sure how he managed not to laugh, but he did. A slight grin probably gave him away, though. "I'm so sorry. That's... special. At least now you have a new 'only in Fandom' story."

After being introduced to Klingon opera, Rose's head was waaaay not ready to sleep yet so she wandered down a floor to see if anyone was up.

At Jaina's open door, she stopped in, tapping on the doorframe. "Obviously a relaxing night here," she said lightly.

"I don't have those," Jaina assured her. "They don't exist."

"Do we have to work on that?" Rose teased. "Follow up lazy lesson?"

"Got a time machine instead?" she asked. Futilely.

"Sorry, it's in my other purse," Rose said. Not that she was carrying a purse. "What are you going to use it for?"

"Taking back a very long call home where I may have put marriage thoughts in my mom's head, but mostly for my poor unsuspecting brother. You know, little stuff like that," she said.

"All in one phone call?" Rose asked, way too amused. "You're crazy-talented. Your brother's going to be thrilled, isn't he."

"I know exactly the confused look that's going to pop up on his face. If I knew who to blame for this, I'd feel a lot better." And then she could yell at them. Even if it was Luke. He'd deserve it in the future.

"Hang 'em all by the toes until someone confesses," Rose advised. "They always do eventually."

"There's a lot of people to hang," Jaina pointed out. "Maybe I can make it an extended project."

"Bet if you talked to Deadpool or someone, you'd even get extra credit."

What? Deadpool was insane.

"While he'd probably do it, I think that's take a lot of the satisfaction out of it for me," she said. "Also I don't need the extra credit."
