Arms hotel, room 615- Tuesday evening

With Rose and Dimitri off doing their thing, someone had to stay on Moroi duty, and that person got to be Jaina. She didn't mind it at all; she was probably going to end up on bodyguard detail anyway in her Jedi career anyway, and it kept her mind off other things. She was only supposed to be needed if Adrian- who she'd never met, by the way- needed to go somewhere or something, but it was barely even dark when she got a call saying he needed to do just that.

So like a good little babysitter, she showed up at the hotel, found the right room, and knocked on the door.

She was quick. Adrian was barely even ready by the time he heard the knock, going to the door to open it. "I'm going to guess you're the substitute Guardian," he said, looking her over like she wasn't what he'd expected. He'd expected taller somehow.

Jaina's entire experience with vampires was a call her grandfather had left freaking out when Angelus was in town, so he wasn't what she expected, either. "If I wasn't, you'd possibly be in a lot of trouble right now," she answered.

And he'd never met a Jedi before. So there. He was still sober so far, which meant he could tell something was up with her. He was pretty sure he smoked and drank more here than he did back home, just to shut out everyone else's abilities.

"I'll give you that," Adrian conceded, opening the door wider to let her in. "You don't look even the slightest bit familiar."

"Yeah, I know," she said, scanning the place to make sure he was alone. "I'm your coworker, actually. I've got Saturdays, you're the cute one on Mondays."

She should not have repeated what Rose said. At least she didn't tell him who said it?

Adrian raised his eyebrows, looking amused. Of course he did. "Are you flirting with me already?"

...Dammit. "No. No," she said, just in case he hadn't heard it the first time. "Just... where do you need to go, anyway?"

The smirk just wasn't going away now. Like it would have anyway. "I was told there's a feeder not too far away. I thought I should check it out. Maybe get something fresh for once." While he was grateful to Sookie for the hookup, it just wasn't the same.

He also wasn't telling Dimitri he'd been the one to put it in his head again to start making calls to find one.

Um. "Feeder? Like you're going to go bite someone?"

Her first thought was that she wasn't sure she could actually let him do that, being who and what she was and all. Her second thought was Eeeeewwwww.

"They're okay with it," he said, going to pour himself a drink. He was done being sober for this. Then, remembering last week's islandwide freakout, he looked up at her. "You're not going to be weird about this, are you? I can go myself."

Letting him go on his own wasn't exactly what she'd agreed to do, though, was it? She bet Rose would go. Rose probably wouldn't even be bothered. Rose also grew up around this kind of thing, but that wasn't the point. "I agreed to play babysitter," she decided. "You're really drinking now? Isn't it early for you?"

"I'd share but babysitters don't usually get to drink on the job," he said, not losing the amused look.

She thought she might have to beat the smirk off his face by the time this was done, but that would be a bad thing. Just think of it as a lesson in self-control. "That's right," she nodded. "So... are we going?"

"Almost ready," he replied, taking a seat in a chair, drink in hand. When the alcohol kicked in, then he'd be ready.

Jaina set her lips in a firm line. "You're drinking slower, aren't you?"

And there was the smirk again. Not that it hardly ever left. "Am I being timed?"

"I may start," she said honestly, looking at her chrono without even meaning to.

"If you've got something better to do, I won't keep you from it, but I can promise I'm much more entertaining," Adrian said. He was taking a guess here.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that," Jaina said immediately. The problem was, what else was she going to do, stare at her not-ringing phone some more? "I'd just think that if you wanted to... feed, or however you put it, you'd want to just go. So chug that and let's get on with it."

"You're bossy," he said, not at all like he minded. "I see why they sent you. But if you don't mind, I'm going to move at my own pace. It's really your fault for showing up so early."

While slightly frustrated here, Jaina more just wanted to get moving, and maybe she wasn't doing too good at the part where she was supposed to be the one following him around. "I'm probably not supposed to commit any acts of violence here, am I?"

"Technically you're supposed to prevent them," Adrian replied. He really shouldn't be having this much fun with her.

She allowed herself a brief lapse in control, just enough to give him a little Force thwap. Just to show him who he was dealing with here.

Adrian almost choked on his drink, looking up at her in surprise and of course that amusement. It wasn't near hard enough to be a serious thread. "You've got a long reach."

"And I've got more where that came from." Um, Jaina, you should probably not threaten people you're trying to protect.

"How'd you do that?" he wondered. He didn't tend to ask people outright what was up with their auras, because then he'd have to explain something he shouldn't be able to do, but that didn't mean he didn't want to find out.

"I'll tell you on the way," she said pointedly.

What could he say, curiosity won out. Finishing off his drink, he put it on the table and pulled himself to his feet. He'd light up a cigarette the second they were outside anyway. "Should have said so from the beginning."

Adrian was likely going to get hit a lot tonight.
