Room 313, Thursday morning

Jaina had woken up early and been unable to get back to sleep, which had nothing to do with the realization that tomorrow her dad and aunt would be here. Nor did it have anything to do with that niggling little paranoia that certain meetings might cause the authorities to be called, or entre sections of the island to be blown up or something.

She'd spent a good part of her early hours handwavily at the salle for some drills before coming back to clean up and change, following it up with some good old-fashioned room cleaning. Because she didn't want to get that Look and be told to clean it, yes. Shhh.

Karal had woken before dawn and spent the morning thinking. It was those thoughts, along with the realisation that he hadn't seen her in some time, which had led him to Jaina's door.

He smiled a little when he saw what she was doing, and tapped lightly on her door. "Jaina? May I disturb you?"

"Hey," she said, smiling over her shoulder as she restacked the containers on her desk. "You're not disturbing me. Come in."

"My thanks," he said as he did exactly that. "Is this the end of summer version of spring cleaning?"

She left the work to be done later, turning around. "More like the pre-Parents Weekend rush to not hear 'This is how you live?'"

"Ah." Karal nodded in sudden understanding. "I know that feeling, though the fear was more directed at the under-priests than parents. They could be quite fussy. If yours are coming for the weekend, can I lend a hand?"

"Thanks, but I think I'm okay," she said, considering it. "I think I'm going to move more of this down to the garage. Or shove it all under my bed. Do you have anyone coming?"

"If you wish to hide it beyond all finding, the stables are available," he offered with a grin, then shook his head. "I don't, no, so I will be able to spend the weekend as a refuge for those who do."

"I'm not sure Trenor would like these sorts of playthings," she grinned. "It's so nice of you to open your door lke that."

He sketched a modest, and teasing, little bow. "A priest must care for those around him, and hide them from their parents where necessary," he intoned solemnly. "Have you been well, Jaina?"

"I've been good," she said, trying to stop smiling and fading. She took a seat in the desk chair, indicating that he could sit on the bed if he wanted. "How about you?"

He beamed at her while he sat. "I lost my job!"

Jaina had to laugh at that. "Congratulations!" she said, which would be the first time she said that to that sort of thing. "What happened?"

"A great deal since I saw you last!" This was never going to stop being good news. "There was a situation, a misunderstanding, which saw me accused of being a traitor. It is all untangled now," he added quickly, lest she worry. "And Gavin returned with me last week, in case it had not been, but it was somewhat of a catalyst. Solaris, The Sun of the Sun herself, the ruler of all Karse, is now in Valdemar!"

Luke poked his head in. "You cleaned."

Quite the observant Jedi, he.

"I'm making a serious attempt," Jaina greeted him with a smile. And this visit saved her searching for him, yay. "Hey there."

"Hi yourself," he said, leaning comfortably in the doorway. "Any reason for the purge?"

"Guess who has visitors for Parents Weekend," she told him, pushing a couple spare parts under her bed with her foot. She'd deal with those later. "I've been wanting to find you to warn you, actually."

"Warn me?" Luke repeated. "Who's coming?"

"My dad, for one," she said, which was brain-breaky considering Han's age in Jaina's timeline, but she wasn't too worried about that. "My master's the other."

Luke's face lit up. "Han's coming? Really?!"

There were a lot of reasons for Jaina to not be thrilled about Han coming. Besides the brain breaky, there was his general attitude since Chewie and the current state of her parents' relationship. Not a single one of those reasons mattered at the moment. She just wanted to see her dad.

"Uh huh. He seemed pretty excited about it. You know, for Dad," she said. At least until she explained a couple things he needed to know...

Luke was thinking along the same general lines. "Does he know who to expect to run into here?"

A pause.

"Does he know about John?"

"He knows about you, yeah. He boggled, and then... laughed really hard," Jaina admitted. "I didn't tell him about John, though. I wanted to make sure John was okay with meeting him before I did that."

"...what about the other Skywalker?" he asked carefully.

"I told him. I'm almost not sure he believes me, really. But I had to tell him, if only because of the fact that some people might recognize him from class now."
