A store on the mainland- Tuesday
There were very few people who Jaina would actually invite dress shopping, let's put it that way. But the fact was, it was Jaina's last prom, she had a not-boyfriend coming in, and those two things combined meant that her usual shopping method of walking into a store and picking the first thing in a color she didn't find horrible might not work so well. She trusted Rose's judgment.
Still, as she flipped through one of the racks, Jaina found herself saying, "I can't wait till I never have to do this again," even though she knew full well that she was probably never going to escape this sort of thing.
[For Rose! Also it amuses me far too much that I used an icon of Sophia shopping in appropriate context for the first time ever.]

She pulled a dress from the rack and held it out to Rose. "You should go with something not black." Yes, she was teasing.

Rose stared at the dress and then pulled out the first thing to hand. "I will if you wear this."

Seriously, that was how much she didn't care what she wore usually: she'd let her teenage boyfriend pick without knowing his taste first.
"Is the hair-cutting a rule?" she wondered.

She sorted through a rack of dresses before realising they were so the wrong size. "Nah, people just like to show off their tattoos. I'm not cutting mine."

"And good for you," she said, picking up a possibility. "Though you're talking to the girl who shaved hers off, so my judgment on hair might not be trustworthy."

"I like that one," Rose pointed out. "The color's a little weird, but the whole idea is pretty." She made a face, completely unable to imagine this. "Why did you cut off you hair?"
If it sounded a little like "why did you cut off your arm," well...yeah.

But then she had an awesome boy who bought her hats. Aww.

"That's like - it shouldn't be pretty, but it so is. You need to try it on."

It reminded her of a very different shopping expedition with Lissa.

Figured, one drunken voicemail and the stupid color had to be in style.

So much bravado.
She shrugged a little, scowling. "They're trying to upsell to the wedding package? I dunno, it's just annoying. Especially since we both would totally look good in it. But yeah, not wearing white."
