Jaina had originally planned on being in Fandom today, but the truth was she just hadn't felt like going back yet. Instead she'd gone to Denon, which was currently serving as the galactic capitol, visiting with people (including enough commanding officers to be confident they would take her back on active leave in a heartbeat) and just seeing what things were like there at the moment. According to her parents, if she stayed the whole summer in Fandom, she'd probably be going back to Coruscant, and this might be her only chance to see things like this. Considering the last time she'd been to Coruscant it had been covered with fire and volcanoes while groundquakes raged, she had no idea how they were going to manage to clean things up so fast, but it did give her some hope that things really were getting back to normal.

Getting her own room for the time she was here was easy enough, being who she was, and on her own she was unbothered by people enough to be able to roam the city streets and do things like shop.

It only sounded shallow. Fact was, things like buying new clothes hadn't been a priority when she'd been home since even before she left for Fandom. When she was home, her time was spent playing war, she wore a uniform most of the time, and the clothes she wore at school were primarily things she'd bought on Earth over the course of three years. She didn't really care what she wore, and jeans and a t-shirt was innocuous enough, but there was something about being able to wear her kind of clothes that just made her feel more at home with herself. ...The few inches she took off her hair while she was out, however, was just something she'd been meaning to do for months.

So when she got back to her room, she unloaded her purchases and started repacking, deciding that maybe she really was ready now to get the rest of her Fandom experience over with.

"Good," Jaina smiled, and then checked, "Is it good?" She knew Rose was in the same sort of boat she was with the whole work thing.

"It's -" Rose flopped back on her bed. "Dimitri said it'd be fine. I'm worried they'll hold it against me. Not getting to finish with my class and not being there when they're judging for assignments."

"But that's not really your fault," she said. "I mean, I've seen you over the last year, it's not like you didn't want to be there."

"Yeah, I have too much of a reputation there," she admitted, a little more downcast about it than she usually was. "I just have to kick ass on my trials and prove 'em wrong."

"You'll do it," Jaina told her. "It's all part of the awesomeness. It adds to it, in fact."

Rose grinned. "You're not bad at the pep talk there, Jaina. I'm kinda impressed."

"I did get assigned twelve people to break down and build back up again to be hotshot pilots. You get pretty good at pep talks, usually after making them cry," Jaina grinned.

And now there was a laugh from the other end of the phone. "Shit, it's not going to affect your percentages if I don't become a hotshot pilot, is it?" she teased.

"It's okay, I won't talk about you in league with my other pilots. No offense, it'll just make me look better," she laughed. "So am I missing anything thrilling there?"

"No worries, as long as you look good," she teased. "Everyone's been quiet this week. Figure they're all recovering from the kid hangover. Oh! Fandom decided to rain on grumpy people the other day. That was hilarious."

"Wait, it what?" Yes, she was curious. She probably would have been one of those grumpy people.

Rose chuckled a little. "I dunno. Like everyone had their own little weather system. So the annoyingly happy people had sunshines and Alex got hailed on. It was hilarious."

"I'm really glad that didn't follow me here," Jaina realized. "My parents would have had no idea what was going on. My own personal weather system could have become a training exercise for the padawans."

"See, now I wish it had followed you," she said. "Cause that's a story I'd've wanted to hear."

"Like I would have told it," she scoffed.

"Aww, come on, like that's any fun," Rose protested.

"Exactly! It's bad enough I can bring personalized weather systems and being a kitten with me, I don't want to have to tell people about it," she complained.

"You can tell me," she pointed out. "I'll laugh with understanding and enjoy it a lot."

"That does not make me more prone to tell you," Jaina said dryly.

"See, I'd tell you," she pointed out.

"You would not," she said, not believing that for a second.

... "Depending. If it was funny and you needed a laugh," Rose decided.

"Then maybe I can save up the weird stuff for when you might need one. 'Hey, you're having a bad day, well there was one day I turned into a boy in the middle of a meeting...'" Oh, Sithspit, let that never happen.

"Well, if it hasn't happened before, it will now" Rose pointed out, sounding a little bit apologetic.

"That's never allowed to happen, I look like my twin brother when that happens," Jaina told her. "There'd be all sorts of questions there." Like hey, where've you been for the last six months?

"Probably not the kind you wanna deal with, yeah," Rose agreed. "Just don't run into any girlfriends of his like that."

"Not a problem," Jaina said immediately. "He seems to only date accidentally, I would have nothing to worry about there."
