The Arms Hotel- Sunday late night

It was the end of graduation weekend, and it still felt weird to Jaina that she hadn't left with her dad. She was getting more okay with it, though, when she looked back at the last three years and thought about what she would have missed out on if she hadn't been here in the town that kept insisting on breaking her brain. If whatever didn't kill you made you stronger, Jaina was pretty sure all this time in this town meant she might as well be made of durasteel at this point. And it helped to know that if she changed her mind, she could leave at any time. Don't think that hadn't been a huge thing to realize after some of the weirdness of the weekend. Like the actual graduation. Sigh.

Another huge help was the guy she was snuggled up next to in the bed, who she hadn't always expected to be here and didn't really want to let go of. In fact... "I have a new plan," she decided. "We just don't leave this room again."

"But then I wouldn't get to watch you make a fool of yourself anymore," John teased, reaching to kiss her shoulder. It had been a fun weekend for that and he was going to miss it when he left in the morning.

"What, you haven't had enough of that this weekend?" she asked, trying to look serious instead of amused. Shoulder-kissing did not help with serious.

John snorted, "Yeah, because I'll ever get enough of that." Especially now that he didn't have all the wacky Fandom things happening to him.

~~He should just be glad Atlantis wasn't turning him into a penguin.~~ "At least you have enough photographic evidence to last you till the next time?" Hopefully he wasn't hanging it on his walls anymore.

"Yeah, but it's less fun when there's no one around to show that would tease you later," he pointed out.

"I love you, too," she said, grinning up at him. "Whenever you're able to be in contact I'd half be expecting voicemails of 'Hey, remember that time you danced in a common room?'"

John laughed a little at the idea of having that sort of time. "It'd be nice just to be in contact," he admitted.

"I've missed the calls," she said honestly, unconsciously tightening her arm around him a little. "It's not the same not hearing your voice." Or seeing him, but she'd take what she could get right now.

"Yeah, even when there's not much to say, it'd be good to have the chance," he agreed. "Who knows, maybe we'll get this bridge project up and running to make travel and communications easier."

Jaina smiled again. "You know if I was able to go back with you I'd be making sure that happened." She knew she couldn't, but if the option was there, she'd take it.

"Would you have to bring your pantsless friend along to do that?" John wondered.

"Depends on how intricate the work is," Jaina said, thinking about it. "Anything mechanical I can make work, but if it's a complex computer system, it's a little outside my skill set. I'd need instruction, anyway."

She paused. "I really just answered that without looking at you funny."

"Makes me wonder if you've made more pantsless friends since I saw you last," John teased, poking her in the side.

Squirming slightly, she assured him, "I only have one pantsless friend. Unless you count..."

"I'm only pantsless sometimes," he reminded her. "Though, did I tell you about the race of pantless people? Disturbing."

Jaina looked at him in alarm. "You missed that. Tell."

She wondered how many had hit on him.

Shocking! "They actually look like aliens, so I guess it's like the furry guys. Only they're totally bald and naked. I guess this is what happens when you evolve to being the smartest race in the galaxy."

"And who knows, maybe their society frowns upon pants. Maybe they have a rule about it. That might be us in the future, except not bald," she teased.

"With luck, we won't evolve for a few more generations," because ew. "I don't want to be alive to see that."

"Good. On the not evolving for a long time thing," she clarified, moving a hand into his hair. "I like your hair. Let's keep it."

"It's good to be the boss," John grinned. "No one around to tell me I'm not following regs anymore." Not that he would've paid attention.

"Did people actually tell you that?" she wondered, still nicely focused on his hair. "Outside of basic training?"

"Well, I didn't grow it out for a long while," he replied. Which she might recall. "But I got looks. My last CO wasn't a fan." Sumner. That brought a frown.

Jaina didn't like the frown, though she wasn't sure if it was because he'd had a problem with his CO or what had happened. He hadn't been very talkative about things that had gone on, so rather than push it, she kissed his forehead and said, "It's very you. All the looks I give are good."

"Good to know," he decided. "Though at this point, I'm a little set in my ways to change even if you didn't like."

"We never were that couple who changed for each other anyway," she said. "Tattoo discussions aside." Yes she was teasing. She was still not getting one ever. She would, however, let him tell her what not to get since it was never happening anyway.

"You're going to get my image tattooed on your ass one of these visits," John decided. "It'll be hot."

"You really want your face on my ass?" she laughed. Somehow she did not think that would be so great.

"Okay, maybe just my name." See how he made it seem reasonable by comparison?

"Still on my ass?" She should not be so amused by this, she really shouldn't. She just didn't know why anyone would actually get on there.

"What, you want it on your forehead?" John teased.

"That's a little Vong for me," she grinned. "So if I'd be getting your name on me, where would you be getting my name?"

"You didn't see? I got it done two months back," John shared, smirking mightily.

"Uh huh? Let's see," she said, not exactly believing this.

"Well, you'll have to lean just a little closer," he instructed. "And tilt your head to the left."

"Oh, would I?" she asked, doing as instructed. "I don't see it yet..."

John leaned in to kiss her. "See how I did that?" He was so talented.

"Ohhhh there it is," she smiled, happy to kiss him back. Totally appreciative of his talent, this one. "So now I have to wonder."
