Room 313- Wednesday evening

Jaina wasn't going anywhere yet, but with no set date on when she was, she was doing some spring cleaning and clearing stuff out so when she did go, it'd be easier. Fandom was the first place in a long time that she'd stayed long enough to accumulate stuff, and once she started going through her closet she found that there was a lot of said stuff.

So the box that she'd packed up after Myrkr, back when she didn't think she was going to live to see last December, was being sorted through. Things she knew she'd never use again tossed away, things she wanted to keep were put back in the box. There were clothes and dresses to be donated, and that box of things she'd packed up after she'd broken up with John last year... that was all being kept. There was also a certain hat she'd found that Luke had given her forever ago...

....that ended up on her head a second after she put it down. And wouldn't come off. After a while of trying, Jaina had to resign herself to the annoying fact that it just wasn't going to come off till it was ready, and Fandom was a mean, weird town.

Basically, the room was a mess, and when Jaina looked around at the piles of things, she had to be a little irritated at herself that the attempt to clean stuff out was going to have to get cleaned up in itself. While wearing an airplane hat. Couldn't forget that part.

Yeah, she could see that. "Well if you ever want to add to the collection, put away or not, there's about half a dozen containers in the garage you can feel free to go through. Something tells me I'm not getting around to using them."

"You mean it?" Ben asked excitedly, face lighting up.

[solo_sword]

"Go for it," Jaina shrugged. "Some of those parts have been here since I got here and I didn't end up using them, so someone should be able to put them to good use."

"I had been about halfway through with an altered astromech," Ben said, "but four-year-old me took a hydrospanner to it."

Jaina's jaw dropped. She completely understood just how frustrating that had to be. "I can't throttle four-year-old you for it when I go home to visit next," she warned. "Though I'd understand if you wanted me to."

Ben laughed. "No, I think that's okay. But make sure he's not coloring on any schematics."

[solo_sword]

"Will do," she smiled. "And for what it's worth, I think half the new parts downstairs are from eight-year-old me taking apart a boat because I couldn't get to the junkyard."

Part of her was still thrilled she'd gotten permission. That never happened. Well, except the one time.

Ben laughed again. "Was it a boat someone will miss?"

[solo_sword]

"Nope. The junkyard was completely submerged in water, and there were boats. So I asked if I could take one apart and the guy said yes," she said. "I have no idea what any of those parts do even now, but it was a blast at the time."

"I missed out on boats?" Ben looked sad. "I was too busy trying to get people to be quiet by staring at them. Not that effective, it turns out."

"There were boats for a day. It sounded like it was better on Sunday," she admitted. "But you have the parts, so it's like you were there. Or you can pretend. Either way."

He chuckled. "I can rebuild a boat? Or just half of one or something?"

[solo_sword]

"I want to see what you do with a boat, actually," she decided, thinking about this. The mental image. Ben Skywalker on a boat in the pond. It was kind of great.

"Sounds like a summer project," he said. "Want to help?"

[solo_sword]

"Sure. Give me something to do, keep me off the streets." No, seriously, girl needed a project.

"Well, you have to promise me that you aren't going to take it and go gallivanting off on it," Ben said with a grin.

[solo_sword]

"Easy promise," Jaina said. "The day I take a boat gallivanting is the day I'm gremlin-bitten into a pirate." And not the kind from home.

"Beats yodeling in public," Ben said, making a face.

[solo_sword]

Don't mind Jaina, she was just trying not to snicker.

"Let's all be glad my dad left first. I would have been picked up and dragged onto the Falcon, still singing," she said.

"And in such a nice outfit," he said, laughing.

[solo_sword]

"Oh, you had one too," she reminded him.

[momslilassassin]

"But I looked good in it," Ben insisted.

He really didn't.

"Did you really just say you looked good in a sailor suit-looking thing?" she wondered.

[momslilassassin]

"With little shorts," Ben added. "I worry about the costuming skills of the gremlins."

[solo_sword]

"I try not to think about it," said she who'd been where they lived. "It helps me sleep at night not to."
