Room 313, Friday after classes

Not having any classes on Fridays, Jaina had taken the opportunity to do nothing. It lasted for about half an hour before she'd gotten bored and ended up calling Mara on her comlink. Not that the news from home was terrific. Mara knew enough about where the Vong were hitting to tell her, and Jaina was a little concerned that she hadn't been called back yet. She knew she was pushing things with her leaves to go to school here, and that there might come a point where she needed to be permanently replaced, but she hadn't heard anything from Colonel Darklighter on that, which was probably worse than being let go.

Once she'd ended the call, she opened the door and took a seat on her bed, debating whether this was a sulking thing, or a heading-to-the-salle-for-drills thing.

[For Karal, but open. SP for work, and by the time I get back I may be BEGGING for a distraction.]

After leaving his room, Karal went down one floor and tapped on Jaina's open door. "I must interrupt you," he said lightly, and smiled. "Whether you wish it or no."

"This is far more important." He was trying very hard to sound serious as he came inside. "I have a question to ask you."

He grinned. "Are we still hugging friends? Because I feel a great need to hug you."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
He took it as such and stepped forward to hug her. "The very best of news! Tremane is now a part of the Alliance!"

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
"It was not me alone!" he pointed out, stepping back to grin at her. "In fact, it was hardly me at all. If not for you, I never would have gone forward with the reconnaissance, and if not for that, it never would happened."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"We will share it," he countered. "We spoke with Tremane, and I gave him a way to send a message to the Alliance. Which he did, very quickly." Karal rubbed his temple with one finger, smiling a little. "Solaris was...extremely unhappy with me, she commanded me back to Valdemar in disgrace, but it was worth it. And now I am at least tacitly forgiven, and Tremane's ambassador is currently in Valdemar!"

Karal blushed. "It was everyone, not just me," he protested, then smiled. "For the most part, she has forgiven me. I had thought she wouldn't send me back, but then, out of nowhere, she was telling to me to go. So here I am, to stay this time."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Solaris said she would have tasks for me, work to be done, but she is going to send it here. I must do it promptly," he added, then laughed. "But no more trips, at least not for business."

"I'm pleased, actually. Being cut off from what's happening in my world, not being able to help, would have been a great hardship," he confided with a sheepish smile. "But I'm so glad that I get to stay. I miss this place when I'm away from it."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I can hardly wait," he teased. "It still won't be as bad as being the envoy! And whatever happens, I'll be with my friends." He lifted one shoulder. "Which will always be a good thing."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I am going end up terribly spoiled," he laughed, and went to hug her again.

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I promise," he said solemnly, giving her a light squeeze, then stepped back again. "No more than my allotted number of tantrums." He chuckled at himself. "And I should go, continue my rounds of telling people I'm back, and let you return to your thoughts."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
"It would not have happened without your help." Karal smiled again and turned for the door, then hesitated, brows drawing down in mild concern as he looked back. "Were they good thoughts, Jaina?"

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"We can stick with that." He smiled. "But I'm here if you need someone to share them with, good or bad."

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Karal laughed and gave her a small bow, bidding her farewell as he headed out the door.
