Coruscant, 2 weeks after Fandom
Jaina had only planned to be gone from Fandom for a week at most their time, but when she got to the Portalocity terminal at the new spaceport, it was looking like that wasn't going to be so easy.
"What do you mean the portal's inactive?" she demanded, glaring at the Sullustan behind the counter like he'd caused the problem personally.
"I mean that there have been issues with the portals and all trips in or out have been canceled," said the Sullustan, obviously cowed. He seemed to be having a bad day already, and then there was Jaina.
"So when can I get another one out?"
"I think you misunderstand... All trips have been canceled. I have no idea when they'll be running again. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and we're prepared to offer you a travel voucher worth-"
"I don't want a travel voucher, I want to get out," Jaina interrupted. Clearly she was annoyed. It was rare she was ever that insistent to get back to where the gremlins were, but between handing her parents and Luke and Mara their messages from Anakin and a more stressful mission than she'd expected and all the stupid ceremonies thanks to the stupid government deciding this planet was ready to be the stupid capitol when it wasn't, she was exhausted from this trip and just wanted to be done with traveling and go to bed.
"I'm sorry, Jedi Solo. That's simply not possible."
Well, that was bad. If he knew who she was even in civilian clothing and was still telling her no, then she just wasn't getting out today. Still irritated, she got the information she needed about who to call and yell at, made sure she'd be notified when portals were running again, and stepped away from the counter to let the next person in line yell at the Sullustan about needing to get somewhere. As she headed toward the exit to catch a ride back to where her parents were staying, she got out her phone and began to send a text to a few people bemoaning her nixed travel plans.
Before she even reached the exit, all four messages were deemed undeliverable, and Jaina instead tried dialing one of the numbers to see if she could get through, only to hear that the call could not be completed at this time.
Frowning at her phone, she muttered, "I have a bad feeling about this."
