Office hours- Monday

Jaina would have never figured that her first real office would be the one she had as a teacher at Fandom High. Nothing about it made any sense to her. Yet here she was.

She figured no one would be coming in on a holiday, so she wasn't too hard on herself for coming in later than planned when her training ran long. (Trust her, there were reasons for training to run long this morning.) Leaving the door open, she sat behind the desk, trying to get everything set up the way she wanted it.

You don't want to know how long it took her to get her chair to the right height. It was a little embarrassing.

"Now, offering to let me steal your ship...that would be a little different," John replied, giving her boots a little smack with his hand.

"And what might I need to do to get upgraded to borrower status?" John asked. And if he had that particular look in his eyes, well, he was kind of a whore, okay?

"Nicely?" She had to know that look was coming.

"Our way was normal," John argued, smirk evident. "Does your ship seat two?"

John's face fell. "Disappointing. I really gotta get my hands on a 'jumper." She'd dig that.

"Four seater up front," John shared. "Then two convertible benches in the back...plenty of space for anything you might get up to."

He sighed, sad he didn't have one accessible. "You know, I could show you one in the holodeck sometime."

"I still like bad ideas," John added, not having been the one to break things off the night before when things were just getting interesting. "But I know you don't."

"So enumerate them for me," he said, tapping the arm of her chair with his shoe. "Then I might stop having them." Or at least saying them out loud.

"Come on, Jaina, like you could ever just be some girl," he reminded her. "And why would it be weird? In case you forgot, we slept together a lot. A lot, a lot. It's like a continuation of the part that always worked out."

"Okay, you keep thinking of reasons to say no and I'll do my best not to remind you of how great it could be." Like a mini escape from reality.

He made a face. "It's gotta be complicated huh? Nothing easy or free with us?" Whether she was still in love with him or just afraid of falling for him again, he knew the answer was probably a giant 'back off, John.'

"So...you don't want me, but you don't want anyone else either?" Oh, she might be more messed up than he was after all.

"Well, there were a few weeks back in college..." John recalled, taking the moment to lighten things a hair if possible. "But I think I get it. You're just not going there...ever. Or, at the very least, not with this fool."
