Room 313, Monday afternoon

Jaina was disappointed to have to pack up her things from Chupacabra, but she knew the cabins couldn't last forever. She brought her stuff back to 313- and she did remember her room number, great- and realized that the things she'd dumped in the room her first day are still all in a pile against the wall. So, putting everything down, she took whatever side of the room is closest and started unloading.

[Door and post are open!]

Tori had been wandering the floor after getting settled into 304, and happened by 313. Spotting Jaina, she smiled and knocked on the doorframe so as not to startle her too badly.

"Hey Jaina. I didn't mean to bother you." Tori smiled sheepishly. "Just wanted to say welcome to the third floor. Which is totally the best floor of the dorms." She winked.

"You're welcome." Tori nodded, pointing in the direction of her room. "I'm down the hall, in 304, yeah."

"That it will." Tori agreed. "I'm probably going to get yelled at for saying that on radio tonight, especially is Willow's the broadcaster." She chuckled. "But you can't deny the truth." Tori winked.

"Oh, I'm sure you'll see her around. She's a pretty cool gal, a redhead." Tori explained. "Extremely smart, too. Willow's a great girl, super nice."

"Yeah, eventually is right." Tori nodded, laughing a bit. "I still have people to meet from last semester."

After Third Period

Inara felt more than a little triumphant as she found her room, pleased that she hadn't smacked anyone in her classes, either the teachers or the students. Her arms were full of bags of her things and she placed them on the bed before greeting Jaina. "Hello, it's nice to see you again."

Laughing as she undid the fastenings on her things, "I believe so? I always like it much better than packing, anyway. What about you?"

"Why is that?" She asked, laying her clothes out carefully on the bed. They would probably need to be washed and aired out before she hung them in her closet.

"What's wrong with the dresser and the closet?"

Inara had definitely never met anyone like Jaina before, "What are your choices?"

"For what to do with the closet," Inara glanced at her clothing and thought of the fabric she'd been hoping to drape to make things seem more comfortable, then remembered that Jaina's idea of homey might be...different. "Where were you thinking of putting the parts?"

Laughing, she offered, "I could probably help with that, if you want?"

"You have a room to yourself? That must be wonderful," she sighed a bit wistfully, then realized how that might have sounded, "Not that I'm not happy to be sharing with you, of course."

"No, I'm still too young," she said, sitting on the edge of the bed. "The older students get their own rooms--for obvious reasons--but the younger students share so they are able to exchange information."

She forgot that the reasons might not be obvious to Jaina.

"The older students need privacy to perfect their techniques," Inara explained, "before they are allowed to accept clients. No House worth their salt would send an unexperienced trainee to a client."

"I'm training to be a Companion," Inara said. "They are skilled, well-educated guild courtesans; not unlike oiran or geisha, from what I've read."

"Is that going to be a problem?" She asked.

"Some people don't," Inara acknowledged, but unable to keep a slight look of disgust off her face for some of those individuals. No standards. "But yes, there are a number of houses on both my planet and within the Core. It's a very respected profession."

Which might have been overstating things just a little bit, but nothing fatal.

"Yes," she smiled back, "That's the reason. I was selected by lottery."

"I am now?" Mostly.
