Mon Calamari- Monday evening Fandom time

Ordinarily, Jaina didn't bother celebrating her birthday. Hadn't in years. But when it turned out that everything on Mon Calamari had gotten settled and done with the day before it, Zekk had talked her into staying to have one day off. Always feeling guilty for taking time to visit Fandom, she'd argued at first, but when it came down to it, she was okay remembering this one. Because while it was impressive enough that she'd made it to thirty... if her math was right, this was her last year before things went to hell. Might as well enjoy it for a day.

It turned out to be a good thing, because it'd been a long time since Jaina had been anywhere in her galaxy just to visit. By the end of the day, when she'd returned to her room in the apartment she and Zekk had been given to use here, she was even in one of those rare good moods. Mostly because she wasn't letting herself think about that whole 'last possible good year' thing and was just going to busy herself with packing to leave tomorrow.

"Are you sure?" Jaina teased.

"I'm sure, believe me. If I had to sing it, it would negate some of the 'happy' part of the sentiment," Tahiri insisted.

[solo_sword]

"Maybe I'll just ask at your next gremlin bite," Jaina said.

[weetuskenraider]

"That's just fine." And then something occurred to Tahiri. "Is it horrible to take bets on how soon Anakin gets bitten?"

[solo_sword]

"No. Because I'm pretty sure he's gonna try for it rather than avoid them altogether." Sigh, Anakin.

There was a very long, loaded pause on Tahiri's end of the line.

"He would."

That she said it with mild exasperation (indulgently, though) instead of admiration -- she noticed that.

[solo_sword]

"He's still very new," Jaina said. "He'll learn. And I've arranged for video when it does."

Tahiri snorted a laugh. "You would."

[solo_sword]

"Because I'm probably going to miss it," Jaina laughed.

[weetuskenraider]

"I get to see the video, right?"

It was more of a demand than a question, really.

"Of course. We've had enough embarrassment to deserve to see others' by now," she reasoned.

"I appreciate you looking out for our best interests," Tahiri informed her solemnly.

[solo_sword]

"I fought Auditors while hungover from a gremlin bite. I'm owed something," she reasoned.

[weetuskenraider]

"Is that supposed to impress me?" Tahiri teased. "Because that sounds about like you."

[solo_sword]

"Which part, the hangover or the getting gremlin-bitten?" Jaina asked dryly.

[weetuskenraider]

. . . er.

"The fighting through the hangover," Tahiri clarified.

Also the gremlin bite, but that went without saying. Shh.

"And the gremlin bite?" she guessed. Because that's what she would have gone with.

Tahiri cleared her throat. "I'm trying to work on my diplomacy?"

[solo_sword]

"I'd give you high marks for your restraint on that one," Jaina said helpfully.

[weetuskenraider]

"Well, now that I have your approval, I feel accomplished."

. . . and she was right back to being a smartass.
