Coruscant- Wednesday Fandom time

It seemed like Jaina had gotten her wish when she'd said she wanted things to slow down a little, because they really had. It was especially good when she had someone visiting, because she didn't really want to have to tell Eric "Have to go hunt down bad guys, no idea when I'll be back, don't eat anybody please."

Tonight she'd found a little outdoor restaurant that she hadn't even been to before, thinking that skipping dinner and just finding an excuse to sit out with a drink and watch the different species pass by was a good way to go.

"Someday you're going to get tired of spotting different aliens," she said. Even if she doubted that was true.

"That is a nasty combination," he said, nodding. "How did you get them to go away?"

"The Supreme Overlord went crazy enough that his own people started defecting." Which, by the way, had been Jaina's fault. "So with their help, we were able to infiltrate Coruscant, and Jacen killed the Supreme Overlord. Millions of people died in the last battle alone."

"Millions?" Eric repeated, looking shocked despite himself.

[solo_sword]

"Millions," she confirmed. "We threw all the big stuff at the last battle, so we lost several thousand starfighters alone, and then you add in our allies and the fact that the Vong lost even more... In five years more than three hundred trillion lives were lost."

And she was scaling it down.

"Trillion?" Eric repeated, looking stunned.

"Suffice it to say it was a really bad five years," she sighed.

"Holy shit," Eric said eloquently. "How is there anyone left?"

[solo_sword]

"There are a lot more people than that in the galaxy," she said with a shrug. "Entire planets were destroyed but people were able to escape, people kept joining up with the military so we recouped some losses there... The number of Jedi went down to about fifty and one species was wiped out, but otherwise, I guess we managed."

Sorry, Jaina, he was just going to gape at you a bit. "How many Jedi did you start with?"

"I think we were at about one fifty at the start of the war?" she said, thinking back. She kind of hated that she didn't know the exact number off the top of her head. "We were really spread out, but they were hunting us down specifically. The Vong were not fans of ours."

"Were they jealous of your superpowers?" he asked, totally serious for once.

[solo_sword]

"In part. We can't feel them, or affect them through the Force." Mostly. "They also can't access it at all, which means they have no shot at the same powers we do. So they weren't happy about that, and we proved to be pretty good at killing them on top of it."

"They took out a third of your total," Eric pointed out. "They were pretty good at killing you back."

[solo_sword]

"And yet we're here and they're not," she said simply. "They were cheating, in a lot of cases. They designed animals to hunt us down. I had friends who were just minding their own business, far away from where the war was taking place, and they'd never even get a chance to put up a fight."

Was it wrong to call 'not fair' in wartime? Yes, it was. Too bad, Jaina felt she could call it in this case.

"Is there such a thing as fair in a war?" Eric asked, arching up an eyebrow.

[solo_sword]

"No," she admitted. "But there are certain things where being rational is asking too much."

"That I understand," said the man who'd kept a grudge for a thousand years.

[solo_sword]

She nodded her agreement, because yeah, she knew his story. "It's not very Jedi of me, but too bad," she said.

Eric waved a hand. "They killed a lot of people. I'd be pissed too."

[solo_sword]

"I don't know that I can say I'm pissed anymore," she said, considering it. "I think I used all that anger up and now am just resigned to hate them forever for it." Which she was pretty fine with.

"That works too," Eric decided, nodding.

[solo_sword]

"What do you think, this still better than throwing giant rocks around?" she asked a little wryly.

"I don't mind having a serious conversation," he said with a smile.

[solo_sword]

"Good. I tend to have a lot of things to have serious conversations about," she said, smiling a little back. Not so much these days, but that wouldn't last long.

He reached out to squeeze her leg under the table. "I don't mind hearing about them."
