In town, Saturday morning

Last night had definitely been nice, as had this morning, which was why Jaina wasn't in a rush to get on with her day. Especially if she was leaving on Tuesday, she might as well enjoy it while she could. On the way to the Perk, she asked John, "Think the caffeine's back yet?"

"Something tells me you won't," John replied. It was a very Return from the Past moment.

Jaina cut Jaryd off from another "Why?" by asking a question that kind of made her feel bad to have to ask. "What are your names?"

Considering herself more helpful than her brother, Jordin replied. "I'm Jordin and that's my little brother Jaryd."

"I'm noticing a theme," Jaina said with another glance at John, wondering if they hadn't been his idea. Alternate universe his idea. Whatever.

Those were not John's idea of good names, but Jaina was from another galaxy, maybe they were popular there.

"So, how old are you two?" John asked, wondering how old he was to them.

"Five," Jaryd answered, and then held up five fingers a second later, like he'd forgotten that part. He knew how old five was, but for some reason people always wanted to see how old.

"But I'm an hour older!" Jordin added, because she would never let anyone forget it. Especially Jaryd.

"Of course you're twins," Jaina sighed. And of course they'd be an hour apart, because it being quick and easy was too much to ask. "I really should have guessed."

"It's like Anakin knew," John muttered, thinking of the droid babies and wondering how much these two had kept other him up at night.

"Grandpa Han says it's a curse," said Jaryd. He didn't say it meanly, but he seemed kind of convinced of it.

"I take it Grandpa Han doesn't like daddy very much, huh?" John asked like a fishing thing.

"He's okay," Jaryd shrugged, though really Grandpa Han tried to be good in front of the kids. "He likes Threepio worse."

"I don't know Threepio," John said. "But I'm really starting to need that coffee."

"I could go for a few drinks," Jaina said. She looked back at the kids and asked, "Do you know if you're here for long?"

Jordin shrugged and moved to lean against her dad's legs. "There was a shiny thing in the park," she said.

Oh, that was cute. "Okay, so... You'll have to stay where we can see you until we figure out what's going on," she said. She wasn't sure if John would be cool with that, but she wasn't about to let another her's spawn go running around town like they were, well, her.

"They can stay in my room," John offered, ruffling the girl's hair while she leaned on him. "I've got space and we can even build a blanket fort with the sofa pieces!"

This sounded like the best idea ever to Jaryd, and his eyes went very wide. "Can we be under attack? I make blaster noises really good!" And he felt the need to demonstrate.

John grinned, strangely pleased by Jaryd's enthusiasm. "Maybe we can get mommy to play the bad guy and we can defend our base from her armies," John said, looking over at Jaina with a wink.

"Why do I have to be the bad guy?" Completely mature enough for children, yes.

"You don't have to play with us," Jordin said, sad look in her eyes. It was a mean trick, but she played her pout well.

"Oh, don't try that look on me, young lady," Jaina told her. "I didn't say I wouldn't."

"But we need a bad guy," Jordin complained, still pouting strong. "And Jaryd'll make me be the bad guy if you don't!"

"No, I wo-" he started, but he didn't want to be the bad guy, because the bad guys lost and losing wasn't fun and besides, you weren't supposed to fight on opposite sides from your sister. "I mean, yeah. Jordin will have to be bad guy now," he nodded.

"Hey, if your mom is too chicken to be the bad guy, I'll do it," John offered, smirking a little.
