After finally getting the kids to sleep, it had been mostly a peaceful night in 313. At least that was the case once Jordin finally asked Jaina if she could sleep in her bed. Jaina had moved over and let her daughter crawl in with her, and after that, it'd been silent.

And apparently Jaina had been tired enough that she didn't wake up when someone did get up and start moving around, because when she woke this morning, she had Jaryd pressed against her other side. It was probably more due to him not wanting to make it look like Jordin was the favorite rather than out of any clinginess, but still, this was probably the cutest wakeup ever.

Not wanting to wake either of them when they were this quiet for once, Jaina decided she could try to get more sleep, or at least just not get up for a while. Though she wished she'd known they were going to do this, because at least then she would have pushed the beds back together for more room...

Last night Jaina had separated the beds so that she had one, and the twins had the other, which had worked perfectly fine.

That was last night.

Tonight, they were all set to go to bed, but of course it wasn't going to be quite that easy, especially when Jordin was refusing to budge from her standing spot on the floor, folding her arms and declaring, "I'm too big to share a bed."

Apparently it was going to be that sort of night.

[For ze children.]

John had been called back to work last night, which left Jaina with the kids on her own for the rest of the weekend, and she was glad that they didn't seem to be picking up on any of the little latent emo she had going on this weekend. She had a feeling if they did, they would have said something. Loudly. Using many words.

They were a little too quiet as she got them ready for the day, and she finally had to ask, "So, what's up with you two?"

Jaina knew full well what weekend it was. After the past two years, she expected it, even kind of looked forward to it. She was hoping John would be okay with it, though, because she understood kids you had in high school coming back all "Daddy!" a decade later might be a tiny bit weird.

It didn't stop her from dragging him out to get breakfast that morning, as was tradition. And as she led towards JGOB, she couldn't help looking around every so often in case of wee children throwing themselves in their direction.

While John was taking Jonathyn for a walk, Jaina brought the twins back to her room to get her comlink... and check her messages. Which was why she even told them, "Don't tell your dad about this," as she ushered them into the room.

"I remember this room," Jaryd said, having been here last year. "It got boringer."

Jordin climbed up onto Jaina's bed, bouncing a little as if testing it. "Why don't you live with Daddy?" she wondered.

"Uh. Because," Jaina replied, trying to focus on the long arduous task of picking up her comlink.

"Because why?"

The first answer to come to mind was Because we're not married, as that sounded like a suitable line for a parent to throw out to their kids, but that was just weird after yesterday. So she copped out with, "The school won't let us."

"Oh," said Jordin knowingly. "The Man got you, huh."

It was a relief when the call came through. for about two seconds )

After waking up and deciding that it just wasn't fair that breakfast places here didn't deliver, John and Jaina pulled themselves out of bed to go get something. It didn't seem at all strange that they'd done something like this last year, either, because it had sort of gotten overshadowed by the arrival of children.

Yeah.

"You live too high up," Jaina said as they made their way down the stairs. "It's further away from the food."

Jaina was still not usd to this whole mom to alternate universe children thing (and it had to be an alternate universe, because cute as they were, she was not going there for a very long, long time), but the thing that surprised her most was how easily the twins had accepted why John and Jaina didn't know them. Good to know Fandom could train future generations for weird.

Since they'd be camping out in John's room, fort and all, Jaina decided she'd just grab some things from her room now so she wouldn't have to keep going up and back. And she had Jaryd accompanying her, since he was already bored and wanted to wander and she wasn't sure she wanted to see John left alone with both of them for that long anyway. Which was why she was sort of really hoping this very temporary.

[For the kid, and if the roomie wants to ping in before they leave.]
solo_sword: (this is me astounded)
Last night had definitely been nice, as had this morning, which was why Jaina wasn't in a rush to get on with her day. Especially if she was leaving on Tuesday, she might as well enjoy it while she could. On the way to the Perk, she asked John, "Think the caffeine's back yet?"

[Yes yes another meetup post, for the fam.]
