Paris, France- Wednesday afternoon

After Jaina's class, she and John headed out for their little adventure in France, which handwavily included rail travel over a few hours till they got to Paris, and then a lot of confusion once they got there. She'd grown up in the citiest of cities, and she thought she'd have a much easier time manuevering this one, except that was so much easir when you had an inkling as to what anyone was saying.

So there was some wandering, and finally a, "Oh look a monument." Even if she had no idea what it was.

"See, it's exactly where I thought it would be," John said, triumphantly. "We were in no way lost."

"Yes, we were," Jaina said easily, stopping to look at the whole picture. "Any idea what it is, why it's there?"

"Possibly to cause traffic confusion," John said, tilting his head at the monument. "While assuredly memorializing something."

"You just wanted to see it, huh?" She wasn't really used to going somewhere like this without an idea in mind, but that's why it was an adventure. "It is pretty impressive."

"Well, I mean, it's the Arc de Triomphe," John shrugged. "We should be triumphant that we found it!"

Jaina gave him a sidelong glance. "You've been waiting to say that, haven't you?"

"It's possible..." John shrugged.

"You're so lucky you're cute," she teased, sliding an arm around his waist.

"I count myself lucky not to have keeled over dead recently," he said, wondering if it was safe to put his own arm around her in kind.

"Why would that even be an issue?" she wondered, looking up at him.

"It's something new I was made aware of recently is all," he said, starting to walk around the Arc. "Can you use the Force around lead objects?"

Walking with him, she had no idea what he was talking about. "What do you mean, around lead objects?"

"As in, are there any objects that can cause weakness to a Jedi's abilities?" John thought this was a perfectly reasonable question.

She frowned. "Ysalamiri cause these bubbles that will make us unable to use the Force at all, but that's not really an issue here. Why?"

"Just curious," John said, wondering if he could order ysalamiri from T&C. "Wouldn't want to be unprepared."

"Do you have any idea how long I can push you to tell me what you might be unprepared for?" she asked.

"Oh you know Fandom," John shrugged. He knew she wouldn't let it go, but he could try to couch it. "The usual stuff. Dinosaurs, mimes, having my brain crushed from long distance by your grandfather. Nothing new."

The frown deepened. "He didn't."

"I'm still standing, so not yet," he replied, touching a hand gingerly to his head.

"Well, don't worry about it, because I'll kill him before he has the chance," she grumbled.

"Oh right, so then I'll get a message about how I'm some little girl running off to tell on him rather than just finding ways to combat his mental games," John said, frowning at the picture this painted in his mind. "No thanks, I can deal with it myself."

"John, he's already playing mental games," she pointed out. "I've never heard of any case where any Jedi was able to crush anyone's brain from that sort of distance, first off."

"See, even more reason you shouldn't mention it to him," John reasoned. "He's just trying to scare me." And boy was he successful. "And I am not going to let him win. At least not much more than he already has."

Jaina sighed. "He's got no right to do this sort of thing, you know. It's not fair to you, it's insulting to me, and once he's on his second marriage maybe it's time to grow up a little."

John peered down at her, not liking the sighing. "So not something I should mention if I get another message."

"Or I could just wear a metal pot over my head in his presence."
