A bridal shop on the mainland- Sunday after the brunch

Next on the list of Things Jaina Never Thought She'd Actually Do: shopping for a wedding dress. It was probably early, considering there was no idea of a date yet, but she'd rather get this over with in case it came down to everything happening kind of fast. Plus, when the Jedi were currently being kind of terrible with their suggestions that she rethink her priorities and that maybe she couldn't be a Jedi and marry the Imperial Head of State, then kriff them, she was getting her karking wedding dress. It sucked that her mother wasn't even talking to her to be here, too, but at least Jaina did have actual support with her.

"It's going to be so weird to wear one of these when it's not just the island being insane," Jaina said as they stepped inside. There was a freakish amount of white in here, seriously. "Or when I'm not marrying a guy for his contributions to the Skywalker diamond mine."

"At least that means that it probably won't be interrupted and no one'll probably die during it," Rory said thoughtfully. "Jag doesn't have an evil twin with a suspicious mustache, right?"

"He does not, luckily. And even if he did he probably wouldn't be allowed to go, so at least we're in the clear there," Jaina said.

Seriously, between the Jedi and the Chiss Ascendancy's stupid rules Jaina would not be surprised if the wedding was them and six people from Fandom.

"You sound like this is going to be a very restricted guest list," Rory noted, raising her brows. "Give any thought to just eloping?"

"I think that would only make things worse and cause all sorts of hard feelings, probably," Jaina admitted, eyeing some of the mannequins. "Also with his job, it's hard enough to get a night away from everybody. Eloping feels like it'd be impossible." And it wasn't like she could use Darkmeld anymore...

"Probably even before you factor the HoloNet into things, too," added Tahiri, "since I bet they're a million times more obsessed with what both of you are doing now."

"Oh, yeah," Jaina nodded. "There's one reporter who's basically been stalking us. And then I got in major trouble and there was plenty of coverage of that, and that's just the most recent thing... It's a mess."

"Do people know where you are now?" Rory asked, somewhere between amused and alarmed. "Or will there be scandalous headlines speculating about it?"

"Ugh." Tahiri rolled her eyes. "Like being followed around by a kaastoag."

Though comparing Javis Tyrr to a scavenger that cleaned the floors of Yuuzhan Vong mess halls was probably not fair. To the kaastoag.

"As if you didn't have enough to deal with. Too bad my offering to try and get them off your tail would probably make things more complicated." Just a little.

"Yeah, that'd raise some questions," Jaina snorted.

Don't even ask her how she planned on having a wedding with people from the GFFA and their Fandom counterparts, because she didn't know how that was going to work at all yet. Hair dye for everyone? It worked for Allana.

"And Jag and the Jedi know where I am, and they'll both cover for me for the weekend. The Jedi aren't happy with me, but I think they're okay seeing me not there for a little bit."

"I'm sure you mind getting a break from them, too," Rory said with a little roll of her eyes as she idly pulled at a dress that was mostly chiffon. (Total possibility for Cupcake Jaina, yes.) "It's okay, this is like a little vacation for you."

"It is. It's been a whole three days since anyone's yelled at me or made a passive-aggressive remark." The Jedi basically turned into 13-year-old girls a lot. "Should I be worried about that dress?"

"I prefer 'anticipatory,'" Rory tried, smiling at her. "You should be all excited and anticipatory about this dress!"

"As long as you do realize I'm not actually wearing something six times my size down the aisle?" Jaina said.

"Yeah, no, I got away with not doing that, you can too," Rory promised her. "What are we thinking in terms of an actual silhouette, anyway? Cupcake Jaina hilarity aside."

". . . I have missed out on a lot spending most of my life on rural planets, haven't I?"

Yeah, Tahiri was more or less lost here. But amused, at least, if not helpful.

"It's okay, I only know anything because I did research when I was bored," Jaina assured Tahiri. "I don't want anything too splashy. I like simple, anything with ruffles isn't even going to be considered, and it wouldn't hurt to be able to move in it just in case."

Because GFFA.

"So like the exact opposite of this?" Rory asked, holding it up. She glanced around the dress at Tahiri, and added, "And with talk like that, missy, we're going to get you into one of these before the end of the day." Because playing dress-up was fun!

Tahiri rarely got a deer-in-the-headlights look, but oh, was she ever rocking one now.

"Wait, me too?"

"Cupcake Tahiri," Jaina said, totally helpfully.

"I think I'm too tall to be Cupcake Rory, or I'd join you two." Oh, so sad. She'd never been so pleased to be the tallest one in a group, before. "But it'll be fun!"

"We won't make you," Jaina said, though she also wasn't going to discourage it because that would be kind of great. "Also, that particular dress is terrible and you can't kick anyone in it."

Well, Tahiri wouldn't object. She just hadn't expected it.

"Oh, I'll try it on if you want me to. But for the actual wedding, it seems like it would just be inviting trouble of the kind where it turns out you really did need to kick someone."

"That would happen," Jaina said, making a face.

"Yeah, no, we want something you can kick and run in," Rory agreed. "I had an A-line skirt?" She pulled one that was sort of similar to her own dress, at least in cut. "And I didn't have to kick anyone, but I probably could have?"

"Something like that isn't bad," Jaina considered. "That's still a little puffy for me, though."
