IX Serendipity Place- Friday morning

They'd gotten in early this morning, got set up in the housing Jaina was surprised was there but from a security standpoint worked really well, and now it was a matter of getting the things they'd need if they were going to be here for however long. Having come straight off a mission before everything happened, she had even less here, but the boys needed to not be cooped up and Jag needed to acclimate a little, so she sent them on a supply run in town while she did the paranoid stuff like sweeping for bugs and the like.

While she was doing that, she sent a text. Guess who's around for a while?

"That's what family's for," Anakin said. "What happened?"

"Two assassination attempts in twenty-four hours," she said. "Technically three but we missed that one."

[sith_happened]

Anakin eyes went wide. "What the kriff?"

[solo_sword]

"There seems to be a little rebellion against the Empire."

Which was fine. Totally fine. She definitely didn't have complicated and terrible feelings about it.

[sith_happened]

"Again?"

Anakin.

"I'm so sorry. How can I help?"

[solo_sword]

"Right now, nothing. They know our schedule even when it was changed after the first one, so we need to find the leak first. And then it's going to have to be some complicated diplomatic thing because you can't exactly go around stamping out rebellions."

Again, felt fine. Totally cool.

[sith_happened]

"I can definitely confirm the futility of attempting it with force," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"We have no interest in that. But we have to figure it out," she said. "We don't know if they're going after Jag, the kids, both..."

[sith_happened]

"So they're coming, too?" Anakin asked.

[solo_sword]

"They're here, just doing a supply run. I think Jag was kind of happy just to do his own grocery shopping," Jaina said.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "I bet that is a novel experience for the Emperor."

[solo_sword]

"He's under lock and key a lot more than I am," she said. "We're lucky that no one even knows this place exists and he can go."

[sith_happened]

"I'm glad for it," Anakin said. "I don't want anything happening to you."

[solo_sword]

"I'm the one no one needs to worry about."

She was the scary one, see.

[sith_happened]

"You don't get to tell me who to worry about," Anakin said, smiling.

[solo_sword]

"I don't even know that they're after me," she assured? him.

[sith_happened]

"The three attempts," Anakin said, "were they places Jag was supposed to be, or both of you?"

[solo_sword]

"First was Jag and the boys, and I joined them early, second was just Jag, third was the safe house we went to after the first attempt," she said. "I don't think it's me, it would be incredibly stupid to come after me on my own."

It was a statement of fact. Jaina was scary.

Yes, she was, but in the most complimentary way. At least if you were Anakin, who was also scary.

"It would be," Anakin agreed. "Sounds like they're looking for Jag."

[solo_sword]

"Definitely him. Which we've sort of been prepared for," she admitted. It hadn't even been the first time. "Dax and Daniel, though... They're why we're here."

[sith_happened]

"It's another level, going after children," Anakin agreed, sounding deeply disapproving.

[solo_sword]

"Kidnapping attempts we at least know how to deal with," Jaina said. "They're not too rattled. Which is both a good thing and also worrying."

[sith_happened]

"Our lives," Anakin said, shaking his head.

[solo_sword]

"Between that and constant bodyguards they're having very normal lives," she sighed.

[sith_happened]

"Are the bodyguards coming too?" Anakin asked.
