Room 313, Tuesday early afternoon

Jaina had decided that even on a break week, there simply wasn't enough time. She'd gotten up early today, started going through her messages and reports that had been sent overnight, and really wasn't happy with how long she'd been doing this when she finally looked at her chronometer. She sighed and put the datapad down for now, mainly because she was going to get eyestrain soon if she kept looking at it.

Ordinarily she would have just gone home till classes started up again, taken care of things, checked up on her squadron, maybe run a campaign or two while she was actually in the vicinity of the war. But if this was John's last week here, she really didn't want to do that now. Though she still wasn't sure how to tell him she was planning to go next week instead, as "I'm going back to where everything bad happens as soon as you leave" probably wouldn't go over well.

She waved her hand, opening the door, maybe for once actually hoping for some sort of distraction.

"I know," he said, "But you actually did. And then you told me stuff."

"It would have been really bad of me to ask because you asked me to and then not tell you," Jaina pointed out.

He wondered about all the stuff Ben had told him. Of course, Jaina hadn't asked him to find any of that out. Still.

"Let me know if you want me to return the favor sometime."

She shook her head. "I know enough. I don't like what I do know."

That was really where his hope for a different future came in. Neither did he.

"Maybe we should work on living our futures for a while and stop hearing about them."

"That sounds downright logical," she teased. "I can deal with that."

"Amazing how I manage logic sometimes," he replied.

"It never fails to impress me," she said mock seriously.

He rolled to face her. "Funny."

"That's what everyone says about me," Jaina said. "That I'm funny."

"No, I'm funny," John corrected. "You're focused."

"Also focused," she nodded. "But no one can say I don't get stuff done."

"And they can't say you never laugh, either," he decided.

"This is not about thinking. This is about knowing."

"Your fault," she told him honestly. She really didn't do it much when she wasn't with him, now that she thought about it.

"That sounded like an invite to make it happen."

"You're not going to tickle me, are you?"

"It's looking like a possibility," he told her, keeping a serious face.

"You know you'll get tickled back," she warned.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure you've called uncle," she said. Was she really trash talking tickling?
