Room 313, Monday after 4th period

After class, Jaina went back to her room to move in. She was an extremely light packer, so it took about two minutes to unpack, especially when she knew most of it would just end up going back upstairs. And she'd wonder about that for a second, because somehow she never really realized she did that.

And for as much as she'd never really had a permanent home in recent memory, she had to take a second to flop down on her bed, just because it was her bed, and she was used to it, and there were full walls and a door she could close and there was one roommate, not seven... Yes, she really had gotten spoiled here somehow.

"The mini golf floated away," John informed her. "And there's always hitting the boardwalk for a funnel cake. I wish they had a Ferris wheel."

"Maybe I should just leave you with the bike," he suggested.

"Two years and you're still into the bike," he teased. "Good thing it didn't end up with someone else."

"Unpacking in your room," he replied, sticking out his tongue.

He shrugged, "I think we've had that talk."

"Yes," he poked her, drawing out the word.

"I'm gonna count either of the two times when I stupidly asked you to move up there." Stupid because it was okay to ask once and be told no, but not twice.

"Eh, live and learn," he said, not holding a grudge there.

That was not what he'd expected. "You think?"

That was all sorts of unfortunate, but there was nothing he could do about it now. Well, he could press his forehead into the mattress because he hated the idea of the countdown.

Even if he knew exactly how many days were left. Weekends included.

"Well, now you'll have someone right here to talk to about all that stuff you hate talking about when I'm...you know, gone." Why were they talking about this?

"It's okay," he said. "I'm just gonna..." No, he had no clue. "I don't know what I'm gonna do."
