Room 313, Sunday evening

After getting that voicemail on Friday, Jaina had pushed aside any disappointment at not getting a goodbye when she remembered they weren't great at them anyway. It had been a while since she'd had any of those, she was allowed to forget for a second. And then she'd promptly set to work without distractions.

This was why she was on a conference call when the voicemail came through, and when she finally got a chance to check her messages, she was left staring for a while. There was a moment where she thought to to call his phone back ranting at him for her thinking he was miserable at home while he was really in jail, but logic won out and she turned it off. After all, he probably didn't have access to his phone there.

And then a moment later she turned the comlink on again to try and leave a message along the lines of "NO MORE JAIL FOR YOU," but that would be wrong of her. She'd save that for when she saw him in person.

The part of the call about the prostitutes didn't bother her, though, strangely enough.

[Today's post is open post with a scattering of open door, with a slight chance of SP later on.]

Late in the evening, John stopped on the third floor just in case he found a certain girl in her own room for once. "Hey, I made it out alive!"

"I missed you, too. No, no, they treated me just fine, don't be so concerned," John replied, having a conversation with thin air.

"I had to deal with something," he told her, which was both the truth and something else. "Jail was all Gavin's idea."

"I called him," John shrugged. "Valdemar was boring."

"Fine, next time I won't bother calling," he sighed, hefting his bag back to his shoulder. It was obviously a mistake to stop by.

"Sharing isn't exactly the first thing on my list with you yelling at me," he replied.

"I'm sorry I was vague with the details," he told her, unable to stop sighing. "I didn't think it was important enough to bug you with. Seems another poor decision on my part." He'd been talking about his poor decisions with Dave earlier.

"It wasn't a big deal! I was just picking up a car," he told her. "I missed my friend, so I took him with me. Happy?"

"Yes," he said stubbornly, biting back the urge to ask if he was free to go.

"Maybe, I don't know," he told her. "I just felt like calling you before and I didn't have time to explain much."

"What?" John was possibly on another page than her with this.

"This isn't an every-weekend sort of thing I have planned, Jaina," John pointed out.

She had no idea what he was glossing over. "Maybe you moved past it without me."
