Room 313, Sunday evening

After getting that voicemail on Friday, Jaina had pushed aside any disappointment at not getting a goodbye when she remembered they weren't great at them anyway. It had been a while since she'd had any of those, she was allowed to forget for a second. And then she'd promptly set to work without distractions.

This was why she was on a conference call when the voicemail came through, and when she finally got a chance to check her messages, she was left staring for a while. There was a moment where she thought to to call his phone back ranting at him for her thinking he was miserable at home while he was really in jail, but logic won out and she turned it off. After all, he probably didn't have access to his phone there.

And then a moment later she turned the comlink on again to try and leave a message along the lines of "NO MORE JAIL FOR YOU," but that would be wrong of her. She'd save that for when she saw him in person.

The part of the call about the prostitutes didn't bother her, though, strangely enough.

[Today's post is open post with a scattering of open door, with a slight chance of SP later on.]

"What?" John was possibly on another page than her with this.

"This isn't an every-weekend sort of thing I have planned, Jaina," John pointed out.

She had no idea what he was glossing over. "Maybe you moved past it without me."

"I remember the part where I started asking. Did we skip the part where you did?" He didn't recall.

"That was a month and a half ago! I don't even remember that night!" But it seemed to still be bugging her for some reason.

"So remind me," he said, dumping his bag and shutting the door to lean against it. No need to do this in public.

"I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be weird or quiet." He didn't know how to tell her there were things he couldn't tell her. Or shouldn't. Besides the instinct to distance himself.

"I was just trying to get away and being alone would've meant too much thinking," he said, being completely honest.

From things he was supposed to be repressing so as not to share. "Look, there's just some stuff I promised not to talk about. So..."

"That's not fair. It's not like I'm telling anyone else!" He'd even argued that she deserved to know.

"He called, I just didn't reject the idea like I normally would," John told her.

"Sit down," he told her, walking closer. "And I'll tell you all about the weekend."
