Apartment in Palo Alto- Tuesday Fandom time

Okay fine, it was escapist and Jaina really should know better than to go the avoidant route since that seemed to catchup to her more often than not lately. Too bad. She'd probably be back in Fandom in a matter of hours anyway so avoidant only went so far here.

Once the portal had gotten her there, she immediately got to distracting herself with checking out the details of the place till she found the right apartment and knocked on the door. And tried not to fidget with the strap of her barely-packed bag because she suddenly found she was nervous.

When John had gotten Jaina's message Friday afternoon, he'd started worrying that something was wrong. But as wrong as she'd sounded, there was no containing his excitement in seeing her again after so much time. For him.

Hours later, the knock on the door found him rushing to rip it open.

It had only been a week for her, but for some odd reason it felt like a lot longer, and her heart did a quick leap up into her throat when she heard the door opening. It also meant there was something resembling a little smile when it did. "Hi."

There was no verbal response to her 'hi'-ing him right then, he was going to scoop her up and hug her until he really believed she was there. She'd have to use the Force to stop him.

Oh, please, this was exactly what she needed today. She was happy enough to cling back to him, finally murmuring, "Missed me, huh?"

"Nah, this is how I greet everyone who remembers to knock when they stop in," he teased, his smile big enough to show just how glad he was to see her.

"Imagine if I used the doorbell," she grinned, eyes wandering up to his hair.

Which was much much shorter than she was used to. "I might go deaf if we had one for the potential pranking," he replied, trying to tug her inside the place.

She let herself be tugged, reaching a hand up to his head. "Where'd it go?"

"The floor of the barbershop," John answered, looking a little worried. "It's regulation." Or as much as his cowlicks would allow him to have a regulation haircut. His hair still stood at attention.

"Regulation? Reall- You know what, I can't say a thing, I have a Wookiee in my squadron." See, now she wasn't having any problems talking. Maybe this wasn't such a bad tactic for her.

John laughed, pushing the door shut behind them. "See, and they'd try to shave Lowie if he wanted to join up here. Probably best you keep him."

"I can do that," she said, still looking him over in case there were other changes she'd missed besides the obvious.

If anything else had changed, it wasn't on purpose, but he couldn't help the slight alterations a few weeks of intense PT and really terrible cafeteria food could bring.

"Come on, lemme give you the grand tour," he said, taking her hand and reaching to take her bag, too.

"Not a bad place you've got here," she said, handing over her bag- it should be clear she wasn't moving in or anything- and looking around at what she could see.

"It's home for now," John shrugged, pointing out the living area, kitchenette, and making faces at Mitch's door. "He went out with the guys, but you'll hear him when he comes in. The guy doesn't seem to grasp the meaning of quiet."

"That's okay, neither do we," she replied. "Did I keep you from going?"

"No, you were a great excuse to get my work done before the weekend started," he told her, squeezing her hand, still not quite believing she was there with him.

Jaina's jaw dropped in feigned shock. "Look at you, self-proclaimed lazy guy, doing work before the weekend. It's like I don't even know you anymore."

"Hey, now that you're here the lazy can come back out to reign," he said, giving her a look.

She didn't miss that look, no. "I wouldn't have called that lazy..."

He hadn't even been thinking of that. "Oh, well, maybe not that." He took this as his cue to lean way, way down and kiss her.

Chuckling a little- seriously? there was laughter now?- and kissed him back, thinking even a week had been just way too long.

Hopefully she wasn't too surprised by how he kissed her after not being able to for five weeks.

Maybe it was obvious he missed her a little.

After five weeks, he could kiss her however he liked, she wasn't about to complain. She wrapped her free arm around him, thinking contact was a good idea.

He swung her bag into his room and tugged her that way as well, an arm wrapped securely around her lower back so he could keep working on kissing her.
