Room 313, Sunday evening

Waking up with someone she didn't recognize while not knowing her own name or where she was or why she was where she'd been was bad, yes. Finding out this didn't just apply to her and John was bad, too.

But still not knowing and not having any way of finding the information was making Jaina seriously Annoyed. It was like whoever she was didn't own much of anything that hadn't once been a piece of something, and would it be so hard for her to do something like keep a journal?

At the moment, she was still digging through her side of the room, trying to find any tiny scrap of definitive information she could. Okay, she'd been over this before and she knew she wouldn't find anything she hadn't already, but taking things apart and messing up the things she didn't know she'd just cleaned up last week was kind of therapeudic.

Karal was actually looking for Inara, in a half formed tentative way, when he knocked lightly on the door. "Good evening, Jaina. Have you seen Inara?"

Jaina turned around at the sound of what she was pretty sure was her name. "You know me?" she asked. "Who's Inara? Answer the other question first, please."

"Oh, glory." Karal rubbed his forehead. "I do know you, we're friends. Your name is Jaina Solo, this is a boarding school on an island, and you are not the only one who is suffering a memory loss, though Vkandis willing it will wear off soon. Inara is your roommate."

"Okay," Jaina sighed, more relieved that she'd been going by the right name for the last day than she would have expected. "All right, so who are you? And why do you know who you are?"

"My name is Karal Austreben, and I'm a Sun-Priest of Vkandis Sunlord, and I'm also a student here. I don't know why I wasn't affected, some of the odd things which occur here are simply...random." Though he did have a sneaking suspicion that, just maybe, being a Priest might have had something to do with his memory remaining intact.

"I'm glad someone knows something," Jaina grumbled. "So this sort of thing happens often?"

"It even has a name: Fandom Weirdness. Not this, precisely, but unusual occurrences are not that unusual here," he explained, trying to sound as reassuring as he could. "I once awoke in someone else's body, and my horse became human for a weekend. Both wore off in time, but I'm happy to answer any questions I can."

"How much time before it wore off?" Jaina asked, eyes wide.

"No more than a couple of days and nights!" he said quickly. "I'm certain it will wear off soon!"

"It had better not!" she said. "I'm already sick of this. Give me another day or two and I'm going to be scary."

"It must be terrible," he replied. "But I have faith that it will pass, if you can be patient. May I ask, do you know anything about who you are or where you came from?"

"Next to nothing," she said. "I found a package that told me my name is Jaina and I'm somewhere called Fandom, and I know someone named Anakin, but that's about it. So when this wears off, I'm going to have to keep a note on me at all times."

He bit his lip, momentarily uncertain. "I do know some things about you. Would you like me to tell you what I know? I'd be happy to, but I'm afraid of confusing you more."

Inara entered the room, feeling a little sheepish that she hadn't spent the night there recently. "Hi, Jaina. Have a good date with John?"

"I'll take a little bit of information over nothing," Jaina said immediately. "Please."

Karal smiled when she came in, deeply, deeply grateful that she seemed to know who she was. "Inara!" he said happily, then paused. "Umm, do you know who I am?" Just in case he was wrong.

"Hi, I've lost my memory," Jaina greeted her. Hey, she really was dating him, apparently. "I'm assuming you're my roommate?"

"Of course I do, Karal," she smiled at him as she tried to give him a quick once-over for sleep evaluation purposes. "It's nice to see you."

"All right." Start with the biggest thing first. "You come from another planet. This is Earth, and you come from Coruscant, which I believe is a very long way away. You have a twin brother named Jacen, with whom you have a very close bond, and you are something called a Jedi."

"That's horrible! And yes, yes I am. My name's Inara, and that side of the room is yours." She pointed at Jaina's side. "Not that I mind if you're on mine, but I'd think you would want to get the correct impression of who you are."

Karal actually sagged with relief. "There is widespread memory loss, and I was hoping you might have escaped it. Which you have, obviously, since you knew Jaina, which made that a very foolish question, really." He stopped and shook his head at himself. "It's nice to see you as well."

"I figured," she said. "This side just seems more... me. And this is all getting cleaned, I swear. I didn't touch anything on your side, either."

Was another planet supposed to be weird to her? She wasn't sure. "Okay," she said slowly. "Jedi? Does that mean I'm... an alien, or something?"

"Oh, I don't mind either thing," she told her honestly. "Whatever makes you comfortable is fine with me."

"There is? Well, that makes my conversation with River much clearer," she mused. "How are you doing? Gavin mentioned he would be returning to your home with you?"
