Room 313, Sunday evening

Waking up with someone she didn't recognize while not knowing her own name or where she was or why she was where she'd been was bad, yes. Finding out this didn't just apply to her and John was bad, too.

But still not knowing and not having any way of finding the information was making Jaina seriously Annoyed. It was like whoever she was didn't own much of anything that hadn't once been a piece of something, and would it be so hard for her to do something like keep a journal?

At the moment, she was still digging through her side of the room, trying to find any tiny scrap of definitive information she could. Okay, she'd been over this before and she knew she wouldn't find anything she hadn't already, but taking things apart and messing up the things she didn't know she'd just cleaned up last week was kind of therapeudic.

"Oh, glory." Karal rubbed his forehead. "I do know you, we're friends. Your name is Jaina Solo, this is a boarding school on an island, and you are not the only one who is suffering a memory loss, though Vkandis willing it will wear off soon. Inara is your roommate."

"Okay," Jaina sighed, more relieved that she'd been going by the right name for the last day than she would have expected. "All right, so who are you? And why do you know who you are?"

"My name is Karal Austreben, and I'm a Sun-Priest of Vkandis Sunlord, and I'm also a student here. I don't know why I wasn't affected, some of the odd things which occur here are simply...random." Though he did have a sneaking suspicion that, just maybe, being a Priest might have had something to do with his memory remaining intact.

"I'm glad someone knows something," Jaina grumbled. "So this sort of thing happens often?"

"It even has a name: Fandom Weirdness. Not this, precisely, but unusual occurrences are not that unusual here," he explained, trying to sound as reassuring as he could. "I once awoke in someone else's body, and my horse became human for a weekend. Both wore off in time, but I'm happy to answer any questions I can."

"How much time before it wore off?" Jaina asked, eyes wide.

"No more than a couple of days and nights!" he said quickly. "I'm certain it will wear off soon!"

"It had better not!" she said. "I'm already sick of this. Give me another day or two and I'm going to be scary."

"It must be terrible," he replied. "But I have faith that it will pass, if you can be patient. May I ask, do you know anything about who you are or where you came from?"

"Next to nothing," she said. "I found a package that told me my name is Jaina and I'm somewhere called Fandom, and I know someone named Anakin, but that's about it. So when this wears off, I'm going to have to keep a note on me at all times."

He bit his lip, momentarily uncertain. "I do know some things about you. Would you like me to tell you what I know? I'd be happy to, but I'm afraid of confusing you more."

"I'll take a little bit of information over nothing," Jaina said immediately. "Please."

"All right." Start with the biggest thing first. "You come from another planet. This is Earth, and you come from Coruscant, which I believe is a very long way away. You have a twin brother named Jacen, with whom you have a very close bond, and you are something called a Jedi."

Was another planet supposed to be weird to her? She wasn't sure. "Okay," she said slowly. "Jedi? Does that mean I'm... an alien, or something?"

"I...don't think so." He frowned. "No. You are human, but you have a Gift. You can move things with your mind, I know that. And Jedi are a force for good in the world, of that I am certain. I think it is," he shrugged helplessly, "a calling of sorts? More than a job, less than a vocation? I'm sorry I don't know more."

Jaina blinked at him a few dozen times. "I can move things with my mind?" she asked, looking doubtful.

He nodded. "You can. I've never seen it, but I know you wouldn't lie to me."

That was a pretty sound vote of confidence. "You realize I'm going to spend the rest of my night seeing if I can move that box from across the room," she said.

He smiled. "Just be sure not to give yourself a headache," he warned. "That can be a side effect of straining a Gift, at least in my world."

"I didn't find any kind of medicines," Jaina said, frowning. "Maybe it's easy?"

He tilted his head, considering her. "You said that you had little success with healing people, unless you were linked with your twin, but nothing to indicate anything else was difficult. I suspect it might be quite easy for you."

"I could potentially heal people?" she asked, surprised. "What the hell. You'd think this sort of thing would be self-explanatory."

Karal looked as apologetic as he possibly could, which was very apologetic. "I'm sorry I don't know more about what you are able to do."

"I appreciate you telling me as much as you have," Jaina said. "It's a ton more than I knew before."

He ducked his head, smiling a little at that. "I can also tell you that you went home to visit your family not too long ago, that you don't have much experience with horses, though mine likes you a lot, and that you are a good person to have as a friend."
