Apartment in Palo Alto- Tuesday Fandom time

For as much as Jaina was still kind of missing a certain little boy (and his siblings, shh), it was nice to get back to something a little more normal, even if it was entirely abnormal to others. But then again, how many of them got to celebrate a two year anniversary for six days? Technically speaking, between her sped-up time and his sped-up time, it had been much longer than just two years, which was why the Fandom date was the one that really counted: there was really no other way to work out the time. Might as well go the easy way.

Tonight Jaina had gone the simple route. When John got home, he'd find dinner was ready- takeout, but it was on actual plates so it was like she cooked- and music playing, and a girlfriend who probably shouldn't have put this out as early as she did, because it gave her free time to realize that "It's a Small World" was still in her head.

She let go of him reluctantly to gesture to the food. "Especially when I slaved over it. I went to pick it up myself and everything."

"You did slave," he commented, taking his seat and smelling the wonderful food. "Leaving the apartment is hard."

"I'm going to have to rest up later," she said, taking a seat. "Or make you do it next time."

"I leave all the time. You should text me your orders," he pointed out, beginning to happily consume his dinner.

"Oh, that's a dangerous thing to tell me," she pointed out.

"It's been a year, I think I can handle a little extra danger." It was July again. So strange.

Jaina paused. "And I'm reminded that you're almost on our third anniversary." And in his time, adding in all the time they'd spent in her galaxy, it was probably even longer than that. Figuring it out was a headache.

"Just wait till it's homecoming and I'm nearing our fourth," he said. Because that was just weirder.

She couldn't help but smirk at that. "You're going to have to tell me how we're doing at anniversary number four then. I can have something to look forward to from two years behind."

"You'd better be there with me," he warned. "Or there's really no point."

"I will. You'll just have extra insight from the future... or something, that I don't," she reasoned. Actually, no, she'd probably know any insight beforehand, since she doubted they'd lost touch and stop the visits before October.

John rubbed his temple. "This is hurting my head to think about."

"Don't let it. We've managed way too well to start getting headaches over the details." Hypocriiiiiiiite.

John laughed over his lo mein. "Right. There's nothing confusing going on at all."

"What was that you said? It's not the when, it's the where?" If her memory of it was fuzzy, she didn't know how clear his would be. "Or how often?" That part was hers.

"I said it a year ago," he reminded her, "but that sounds good." And smart.

She considered him for a moment while she ate. "So. Anything you think we can improve on for the next year?" she asked lightly.

"Nothing we can improve on," John replied. "Though, Fandom could be nicer with the weirdness."

"I liked this weekend," she said thoughtfully. "But I'd also rather we both stay our respective gender..."

"Add forever to that sentiment," he said, pointing his chopsticks at her.

"Forever," she added quickly. "And ourselves. Let's stay ourselves."

John smiled. "That I would like a lot." Blame the weekend if he had a stray thought that he should really marry her one of these days.

Jaina raised a piece of sweet and sour shrimp on her chopsticks as if toasting. "To optimism."

The effect was ruined when the food slid off the chopsticks, back onto her plate.

John laughed before reaching across and trying to pluck the shrimp off her plate with his chopsticks to offer it to her.

"You couldn't just pretend that didn't happen, could you?" she grumbled, fighting off a smile anyway before leaning over to try and bite the piece off his chopsticks. It was small enough, she could do it.
