Jaina's room- The Arms Hotel- Sunday morning

Jaina saw in a chair in front of the window, gazing out pensively at nothing. She was getting married today, even if that was mostly a secret. It wasn't even that it was her first wedding. This might be the first one that ever ended in a marriage, though.

It had to! If she didn't marry Howard and end up in his will, how was she supposed to kill him and stop him from trying to crush the entire Skywalker empire while simultaneously taking hold of his fortune?

And yet...

No, she couldn't have second thoughts! She couldn't let the fact that Howard loved her derail her plan! She's blame a crisis of conscience but you needed a conscience to have a crisis of it. Even if Charles was back and didn't want her marrying someone less cute than him. Oh, she had so many thoughts!

She was interrupted from her reverie by a knock at the door. Jaina stood, pulled on the little matching robe over her red silk chemise, and went to answer it.

[I am heading to bed, but I had to post this. Obviously someone's at the door. It should be you. Yes, you. And I will answer when I wake up! Go ping.]

Talyn Sun-Crichton, late of the FPD (Fandom Police Department for those not in the know), was standing behind that door. He looked stern and serious but he always looked like that. Even if he was happy, he still looked like that.

His dark hair hung in his face and a stubble shadowed his chin and cheeks, making him look like the rogue he truly was. But, he wasn't there to be a rogue! He was there to be a cop. A good cop on a police force full of corruption.

And he was here to take down someone who was known to be a figurehead for a powerful crime family. He was there to...DO JUSTICE!

[LOOK I HAD TO, IT'S A TRADITION FOR TALYN TO BE OLDER AT THESE THINGS.]

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whatever it is you're doing here," Talyn replied authoritatively, "you're not going to get away with it. I'm watching you and I know. I know why you're here. Leave now."

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"No one owns this town!" Talyn said, raising his voice because that made for a better scene and a better clip to send to the Emmy voters. He'd just be pissed later that he forgot to shake his fist.

"And I am not leaving," he said, taking one step closer to her. He made sure not to step over the threshold of her room so she couldn't try and say he'd trespassed. "I'm the law, I'm here to keep order and clean up this town's mess. That means you and your family. We don't want you here."

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Talyn wasn't going to let her just do that. He was the police department and you didn't just disrespect the police department like this wench of a woman was trying to do.

Talyn waited until the last moment (as you do) and jammed his foot in the door to keep it open. "That isn't very nice! I could arrest you right now for -- "

Something. Whatever, no one cared about proper police procedure on these shows.

"I could arrest you!"

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"My career is nothing if I don't stop your family!" Talyn said, trying to push his way inside the room to arrest her. "Office Talyn Sun-Crichton stands for law and order and your ways are going to stop. I'm going to clean this town up with or without you in it. I'd suggest without!"

Jaina, of course, would listen to reason. She was sooooo reasonable.

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Talyn revealed backwards and away from her door. He hadn't expected that and he had to really milk the injury. A bruise bloomed quickly on his jaw and he stared at her, breathing hard, despite not really doing anything.

"You'll pay for that," he vowed, shaking his fist. "You and your whole family will pay!"

He'd need backup for this. So, with a final glare, he turned on his heel and disappeared down the hall, still holding his aching jaw.

"Is everything going according to the plan?" Anakin asked from the dark corner (there was always a dark corner for him. The lighting guys saw to it) in which he lurked.

"And be sure he spells your name correctly in the will," Anakin advised.
sith_happened: (Anakin: I am entirely without humor)

"Good," Anakin said, "because if this doesn't work, I'll disown you and put all of our money into cloning technology and live forever."

"I've written Juliet out of my will just yesterday," Anakin said, "so it's a much bigger piece of the pie you're gambling with, Jaina. Tread carefully."
sith_happened: (Anakin: all that I am)

"Good," Anakin said. "In that case, you may wear your grandmother's tiara for the wedding."

"I'll see you at the wedding," Anakin said with an almost-smile.

Lucrezia Borgia1 Sforza2 Wayne3 Lannister4 della Rovere5 possibly-Luthor6 Wayne7 was already in the Arms Hotel, thanks to a beautiful wedding to the once-more love of her life, Bruce, who was now presumably dead, since she had poisoned him after spending their wedding night having the most wonderful and passionate sex of her life.

Widowhood suited her; she seemed to have a glow this morning.

But she was also here because she had urgent business to discuss with the Skywalker clan, and because Jaina's narrative had insisted that she, personally, should be here. Well, the pronouns may have applied to everyone, but she had chosen to take it as a personal command, and thus, here she was.

Lucrezia knocked on the door. And once she modded the door opening, she bowed her head in greeting to the other girl.

"I bring a message from His Holiness, the Pope," she said.

This was the perfect moment for a reaction take from Jaina, and a slow fade-out to commercial while the Dramatic Music of Dramaticness played.

Had she ever traveled to Rome in the late 1400s? It turned out that popes of the Renaissance era were kind of slutty.

The commercial break ended, and the music of intrigue swelled back in. Naturally, the writers had to backtrack.

"I bring a message from His Holiness the Pope," Lucrezia said, less ominously this time. "Might I come in?"

[identity profile] holy-daughter.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose one might call it a proposition," Lucrezia explained, stepping through the doorway and sailing into the room. "The Holy Father has heard of the many blood feuds which exist on this island, and he lends his most deepest sympathy for the travails your family has endured."

[identity profile] holy-daughter.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm quite certain that it has," Lucrezia said, placing herself into the nearest chair and fluffing her skirts. "Especially considering that, from an observer's point of view, it seems that your family is the most righteous. The most deserving, one might say, of Divine favor."

Unless, of course, the Skywalkers weren't interested, in which case the Borgias could back a different horse.

The writers were probably on their weekly doing-lines-of-coke-with-hookers binge again. Writing from Thursday sessions always got a little ... strange.

"His Holiness proposes a proper recognition of all your family has done," she said solemnly. "A public ceremony, declaring the Skywalkers to be Officially Beloved of God. Your grandfather would receive a seat at the Pope's right hand, and a vote in official church matters."

Today's subject that the writers knew nothing about: Catholicism!

[identity profile] holy-daughter.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"How wonderful," Lucrezia beamed. "His Holiness will be delighted."

She only waited a moment before adding, "Of course -- the ceremony itself will need to be a proper affair, done up far more lavishly than our diminishing church funds can accept at this particular moment. We would hate to insult the glory of the Skywalker name by throwing a shabby celebration."

Did it perhaps sound like the Borgias were sniffing around for a piece of the pie? Nothing in this town ever went for free, did it? And bribing and killing one's enemies had diminished the papal coffers quite a bit.

[identity profile] holy-daughter.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then everything's settled," Lucrezia said brightly. "I look forward to creating an alliance between our families, for the common good."

If Anakin proved reluctant, Jaina could always sell him out. Lucrezia was increasingly tempted to do that with her father, but was waiting for Sweeps Week to actually put those plans in motion.

"It has been a pleasure," she said, offering Jaina her hand.
