Room 313, Friday evening

Jaina still felt like she should be doing something, but she was trying so hard not to go off and do something stupid anyway. Logically she knew trying to do something like knock an angel's head off was probably only going to get her into trouble, but... but...

So this was her cleaning her side of the room that didn't need cleaning because she was trying to keep herself busy while being good.

John was restless. He'd promised to be good and not invite possible abduction so he was sticking to the dorm but there were only so many things he could read to keep himself distracted. Naturally, he found his way to someone else he hoped could use the distraction.

Glad the door was open, he wandered in and plopped down on an empty space on her bed. "Hey."

"Hi. I really want to chop apart statues," she greeted him. "But I'm not."

"I'll go with you if you want," he offered. "It could be productive."

"Until both of us end up in... whenever," she said. Though she had promised Karal if she went, she wouldn't go alone...

"Maybe we'd end up someplace nice," John said, leaning against the wall. "Like Hawaii." He had such hope.

"If so, I think a lot of people would be disappointed to be brought back," she said, closing her closet door to take a seat next to him.

"Yeah," John sighed. "Doesn't stop me from wanting something to do already."

"Yeah," she sighed, and looked over at him. "You know meditation doesn't work so well when you have to keep opening one eye just to make sure you're still alone?"

"You worried they're going to come inside?" he asked. Oddly, that hadn't occurred to him.

"Not really, but I might be a touch paranoid," she admitted. "I would think stairs alone would be a hinderance."

"Paranoia is a good thing," John replied. "Except when it keeps you from relaxing or sleep. I'm almost relieved to know that there's a reason for people to be missing."

"Definitely," Jaina agreed. "Bizarre as the reason is, at least we know what we're dealing with. Basically."

"So you're cleaning as a distraction?" he asked, noticing the difference in her side of the room.

"Had to do something," she said, shrugging a little. "It kept my mind off of it for about thirty seconds."

"Yeah. Reading and napping were the same," John said with a little frown.

"I don't like this," Jaina said simply. Probably went without saying.

"You're not alone in that regard. Or any, really."

"And I can't even sense anyone well enough to check on them," she complained, which was probably what bothered her most.

"Who all were you trying to check on?" he asked, wondering who would be reported missing next.

"Everyone," she said with another shrug. "Luke and my grandfather are easy enough to find, but everyone else... I don't know half of who's gone already."

"Radio said Andrew was gone," John commented, disappointed in himself that he hadn't made sure to keep his friend safe.

"I heard," she said, reaching out to rub a hand over his arm. "I'm sorry."

"Yeah." He really had nothing to say other than inform. "So, no attacking statues. I hear you can't blow them up. Maybe something more creative is needed."

"Got anything in mind?" she wondered. "I doubt my lightsaber would work if explosives can't."
