Room 313, Wednesday night

Long after fencing club, Jaina was in her room, dressed for bed but not ready to attempt sleep. She was still not really wanting to think about certain things, and feeling pretty antisocial to boot, which she wanted to stop already. Her usual method of coping was not to cope, and that didn't work so well when you'd had to tell the story several times already.

Figuring she wouldn't sleep well if she tried yet anyway, she grabbed her comlink from her desk, debating whether calling home would help or not.

"Drills on my own. I've felt a little out of practice since I left Coruscant. Didn't want to embarrass myself." Yeah, when she left Coruscant like three weeks earlier. Enough time to get really rusty, sure.

"Right," John said, not believing for a second she was actually out of practice, but understanding the feeling. "Feel better about it after a workout?"

"Kind of. It sort of just felt better to be moving again. Like I was doing something, you know?" She wasn't sure many other people would get that, but she thought he would.

He liked to think he understood that. "Yeah, it's like getting your routine back."

"Exactly," she said. "And I don't think I do well at being stationary."

"You're not exactly alone with that," he said.

"Have I mentioned I like that about you?" It was always a relief to know he got this sort of thing.

"Nope," he replied.

"Well, I do." And then she added, "So there."

"You sure showed me." He nudged her with his elbow.

"At least now you can't say you're unaware," she said, nudging back.

"Can't I?" he asked, giving her a dorky grin.

"Maybe not without lying," she amended teasingly. "Because I'll remember."

"What if I forget?"

"I'll remind you."

"Okay," he smiled happily.

"Not going to test that, are you?" she asked with a little smile back, leaning against him slightly.

"Not now at least," he said, looping an arm around her.

She moved her arm so that she could find his hand with hers. "Thanks for coming down here," she said.

He reached to rub his thumb over her palm, "I'm always more than happy to come down here."

"It definitely keeps me from getting bored." And otherwise she would have spent way too long trying valiantly not to be mopey.

"Just my presence?" John grinned. "I must be very talented."

"Well, you speak, see," she explained.

"Ah, so it's the conversation you appreciate, I see."

She nodded. "Among other things."
