Room 209 at the Arms- Tuesday night

Jaina got in later than expected, and by now she was thinking that even without the end of the multiverse, Portalocity just liked jacking her around. She appreciated it a lot less when she was in a not-great mood to begin with. At least yelling had made her feel a tiny bit better?

She checked in, unpacked since she'd be here a few days, then sent out a quick text to people to let them know she was in town and where she was, since she was big on shielding at the moment. And then she took a seat in the middle of her bed, hoping that maybe she could actually manage some meditation.

So far? Not going so well.

"You're lucky that vampires are notorious for our terrible senses of humor," he told her, smiling way, way down. "Welcome back."

He held out a large package. "It's not dirt."

Ushering him in to close the door, she took a second to feel the package, in case that told her what it was before she opened it. "Should I be worried?"

"Would I bring you something worrisome?"

Of course he would.

"Yes," she said immediately, but had to open the package to see what it was.

And found a uniform.

So yes, he did bring her something worrisome, actually.

"If you're picking now to try out some kind of kink, you could have gone more fashionable."

Eric scoffed at her. "Like I'd buy polyblend. This was what everyone at the school was stuck in for the week. Be glad I didn't get you some of the plaid pants."

"Okay, I knew everyone was trying to act normal, but were they also being punished?"

Jaina Solo, secret fashion snob.

"Apparently," Eric said. "I didn't have to wear one, but Tiny had to have sleeves. If you ask him, that crime should be covered under the Geneva conventions."

Jaina went quiet for a moment, eyeing him.

"Now I'm trying to picture you in a similar uniform." Minus the skirt, of course.

Eric shuddered theatrically. "No thanks."

[solo_sword]

"Well, thank you," she grinned, going to put that down and pick up the couple boxes she had on the table. "I'm afraid I just have dirt. Couldn't manage to get a ship sent over."

Though stealing a ship to send to Earth would be an amazing way to leave the military.

"I'll forgive you just this once," Eric said, leaning in to kiss her. "Hi."

Could she just stay like this? Maybe till Sunday?

"Hi," she said. "And how are you?"

"Fine," he said, pulling back slightly. "And you?"

Jaina had no idea what she was, actually. Besides mostly repressing.

"I could be so much better," she admitted.

"Tell me about it?" Eric asked, walking over to the bed and making himself comfortable.

[solo_sword]

"Well," she said, following him over and sitting on the bed, "the simple version of the story is that I'm due for a court-martial. And while it probably won't get that far, my military career's completely over."

Eric stared at her blankly, waiting for her to say she was joking. When that didn't seem to be forthcoming, he reached out to touch her back. "What happened?"

"I refused to fire on a retreating ship after I'd already disabled their cannons. From a military standpoint, I was in the wrong, but it just didn't feel right," she told him. "And to make it worse, my brother was my commanding officer at that point."

Eric wasn't the most intuitive when it came to doling out sympathy, but he was certain that offering to kill her brother would go over badly.

"Why didn't it feel right?" he asked instead.

Good call there. For a few reasons, really.

"The ship wasn't a threat anymore. We were a blockade for an exclusion zone, all we had to do was keep them from coming over. This ship tried it, only fired because Jacen provoked them into doing so, and then it was damaged and retreating. It wasn't a threat," Jaina said. "Jacen wanted me to teach them a lesson they didn't need, which doesn't sit right with me personally, it definitely doesn't sit right as a Jedi, and I wasn't going to let him use me to start a war." Again.

He trailed his fingers along her back.

"And explaining this won't do any good? You hardly lack courage."

[solo_sword]

She managed a little smile at that, but shook her head. "Like I said, from a military standpoint, he's right. It's something people can debate because it is an iffy situation, but I disobeyed a direct order and that'll be that," she said. "But they didn't arrest me and they know where I am, so I'll probably be lucky enough to just lose my job rather than go through the whole court-martial."

Eric frowned hard. "When did your brother get into a position to order you to do anything, anyway?"

"It's a new development. He isn't even military." Still bitter there. "But he's leading a team of people who do things like round up Corellians as part of repatriation programs, so apparently he gets to walk around with my rank and keep it."

"What a prick," Eric replied, making a face. "Repatriation? How does that even work on a planetary scale?"
