Flight Shed, Sunday afternoon

Jaina probably shouldn't have been surprised she managed to get permission to use the sim from her grandfather, but she was. And yes, she was a little gleeful at getting back into even simulated flight. Okay, so she kind of missed this sort of thing, and she would take what she could get.

She got down there early, unlocked the door, and waited outside for John.

"Well, I like to be prepared, so I'm glad you mentioned it," he said. But really, going into that conversation with Prof. Skywalker would be really interesting no matter what. "Especially since we were planning to go out again."

"It doesn't scare you off?" she asked. Because her family could, and she was used to that, but that was mostly due to who they were.

"Nah," John said, failing to mention a Skywalker incident that may or may not cause problems for him later depending on one's sense of humor.

"Good," she said. "Then I'll definitely see what I can do about a rematch."

"Great," he grinned. "I'm gonna need to practice if I intend to win at some point."

"Maybe one day I'll let you," she said, completely teasing.

"And on that day pigs will fly," John teased back.

Jaina paused. "Do they not normally?"

"Oh, right," John really needed to stop the idioms. "No, they're big fat pink animals that do not possess wings."

"The things I miss not being a native," she said, though now she was trying to picture it.

"You're really not missing much," he assured her. "But we can always break out the music videos again if you want practice."

"The music videos?" she repeated. "You think that'll help?"

"Yeah, they're pretty free with the idoms and since they use pictures, I figure it's good practice," John nodded.

"Okay," she said, nodding. "I trust you. It'll be a learning experience."

"I can't make any promises," John warned her. "Television is kinda out of control."

"As long as I don't lose any brain cells," Jaina decided. "If I do, though, we'll have to have a talk."

"Depends on which brain cells you lose," John teased.

Jaina oh-so-maturely stuck her tongue out at him.

John laughed, "That's a really good look on you, you know?"

"Believe it or not, the first time I've ever heard that," said Jaina, who probably hadn't done that since she was about eight. "Best compliment I've ever gotten."

"Well, I must just bring out the best in you," he said, not believing for a minute that was the best compliment she'd ever gotten.

It wasn't, but hey. "Well, you got to me stick my tongue out at you. Not sure what that says."
