Room 527, Saturday morning

Jaina was aware of one thing before she actually woke up, and that was that she wasn't alone. She was kind of cuddled up with someone else on a couch, and she wasn't complaining, because it was comfortable.

At least, she wasn't complaining until she realized she wasn't sure who this person was. That got her to open her eyes really fast to further realize that seeing who it was didn't help with the recognition thing. At least he was cute?

She picked her head up from his shoulder, looking around at the room. She wasn't sure where she was, either. Immediately she began a mental check, making sure she didn't feel drunk or hungover. She'd never been either, but still, it important to know for sure. And then she started checking her own head for bumps.

She tried not to look too blank. "Not that I can think of," she said honestly. "I think I'm going to play it by ear. What about you?"

So not the answer he was hoping for. "I was thinking along the same lines," he replied, trying not to seem as confused as he felt.

Dammit. "Okay, so, maybe I should change, then," she said. If falling asleep together was a regular thing, there was probably something around that would give her a clue. Because it couldn't at all only be the second time she'd ever been up here.

"Sounds like a good idea." He hoped to gods she didn't ask him to get her anything. He'd have to find some reason to take an inventory of what he had just in case.

She nodded and got to her feet... and had to look around for the closet or anything that might be laying around that could be hers. She didn't see anything, but maybe she was just really neat.

She realized she'd probably been looking around for too long while standing in the same place, so she laughed a little to cover and said, "I think I'm just a little off this morning."

He stood and stretched, noticing there was a dresser behind the sofa. She was cute standing and looking around like that. He smiled, "I can understand that feeling." More than she could know.

Maybe she could segue into it. After all, they were probably close, right? "I mean, I usually know where things are in... your room?" Assuming again, but she was pretty sure it wasn't hers.

Oh, so it was his room, not their room. That was good to know. "I'd hope so, you spend enough time here," he assumed.

There had to be something wrong with her brain. There had to be. "Did you clean or something? It looks really neat in here." And maybe if she established that she didn't know where things were, if she looked in the wrong drawer or something, it would be excusable.

"Obviously I cleaned up," he said, looking around at the immaculate room. Not that it being neat felt wrong. It felt very right that it should be neat, but who was he to argue? "I wanted to impress you with the neatness." He thought that was a pretty good save.

"I'm very impressed!" she said, guessing she should be. "Sorry if I don't spot where everything is right away." Yes!

"Thanks," he said, faking pride. He wondered if he should be concerned about letting her go through his dresser. He didn't know what he kept in there, after all. "Let me know if you need help in your search."

"I'm sure I won't need any," she said with a little forced smile, and went to the dresser to open up drawers. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to look or not, but she got a little worried when she didn't see any of her stuff.

"Did you move my things?" she asked, looking back at him.

"Not that I recall," he said honestly, wandering over to the strangely paper-free desk. "What are you missing?" As then he might be able to feign helping better.

"Everything, it looks like," she said, glad she didn't have to be specific in this instance.

"Huh." He wasn't sure if this was his fault or not and decided being argumentative could work. "You sure you left it here?" The personal contents of the room were quite sparse, after all.

"I'm pretty sure," she said, though she wasn't. "Unless it's not supposed to be here." Just in case this was his way of trying to tell her something.

He sat down in the swivel chair and spun to face her. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked. Maybe they'd fought about this before.

"I don't know," Jaina said, folding her arms. "Maybe it means that my stuff appears to be missing."

"Well, I didn't move your supposed stuff," he mirrored her movement. "So maybe it was never here."

"What do you mean 'maybe'?" she asked, frowning.

"Who knows what happened to your stuff," and crap that sounded like he wasn't sure! "I say it was never here since neither of us moved it."

"Well, you sounded pretty certain, talking about how much time I spent over here," she said, more confused than ever. It might have been starting to show.

"Don't you spend a lot of time here?" He was surprised that she didn't seem sure either.

"I suppose?" she said, and sighed. "Okay, look, the truth is, I'm not really sure."
